  1. Couple from crewe earlier LM 323, don't normally see those round here but it's been to Lnwr for work to be done And 4S44 with a pair of 90s coming into 12 for a crew swap
  2. i must admit i thought id have been held there longer as the barrow service was due to leave 4 minutes after i arrived but he pulled off for me 2 minutes before that trains departure time, to be honest he wouldnt catch me as i can do 75mph between preston and lancaster and he was also 75 max, the 2 minute headstart i had would have had him on greens all the way i recon as it happened after leaving preston i was non stop to harrisons sidings (north of shap) where he had me in for about 5 mins to let a 325 past then straight out non stop to carlisle, and after a cracking run to there i had to sit outside kingmoor yard for 45 mins before i could be accepted, by the time i got the loco stabled and secured it had taken me the best part of 1 1/2 hours from carlisle station to the log yard, (the same time it took to do crewe to carnforth!) some pics 6V46 passing through walsall my loco preston carlisle kingmoor, heading towards the log yard yesterdays train in the distance with 60087 up front and all shut down and away to the hotel for the night
  3. After spotting a link in another part of the forum to L-cut creative website I ended up ordering a number of retaining wall components so I can make a nice angled retaining wall, at 29p each it want worth the hassle of trying make my own parts from card as I wouldn't get consistent sized parts Bought a dozen of them That conveniently, and not by design, sit the same height as the high level boards! Spaced them out just smaller than a sheet of brick card Took a touch more off the edge of the board near the bridge Then using my trusty razor saw I cut a groove for the upright to slot into I then back filled the gap between the cork and edge with card The next bit is a test piece, basically in the words of Donald trump "we need to build a wall" which I have started to do using card and held upright with peco platform fillets onto which the platform tops will fit (when i buy them) That will then become the rear wall for the platform, on the outer side I am going to put magnetic tape on the face of the fixed wall and similar on the rear of the retaining wall sections which will be removable in sections so I can easily remove them should I need to get to the hidden storage area in case of derailments etc Of course it wasn't all work and no play And a vid of the 67 running round the layout https://youtu.be/Jwx_6qzlCuo
  4. I'm just on my way to Walsall, they were hoping to keep it running as it was 90 early but no one told me so I've gone for a train that gets me to Walsall at 18:50! Gonna try and miss out Basford hall and get a run through crewe station if I can

  9. Have you got a layout thread going, be nice to see all the modern stuff you have on a layout?
  10. tried ringing shawplan a number of times last week but kept getting no answer then when i rang earlier to order some of the 68 brake discs (and some laserglaze for another project) the recorded message says they are closed for essential maintenance until 2nd may, d'oh! (i think i'll wait until the derby show to buy now as thats only a few days later, if you read this bryan bring discs and some lima mk3 TSO laserglaze!)
  11. Here is part of a WhatsApp conversation with 250BOB earlier, still chuckling to myself

  13. has merls travels gone from the Bachmann website?
  14. thats why i waited til i could get the one i wanted for a price i felt was fair given the documented 'issues', i didnt however know about the wierd bogie pivot arrangement until i ran it, i think i can get round it but ive got a bit of track fettling to do thats for sure!
  15. some from tonight 37099 derby to leamington spa leamington (stills from a video i took of it departing) and the video https://youtu.be/ubcTT2d3Zlw thats it for yellow trains this week, on the logs and collecting the new 70s from liverpool later in the week

  18. Here's a clue... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/70783-jims-down-by-the-tracks-with-colas-thread/?p=1018506 Only 168 pages to catch up on!
  19. I'll post these for mick as he's away from the computer for a while 3 colas 67s, one Hornby one for me and 2 Lima ones for one of the bosses at colas Lima Hornby, TTS sound fitted model Really pleased with how they look, big thanks to mick for doing them for us (just need to sort out that cab ride for you now!)
  20. Got a 73 from Dapol last week for £90 refurbished, anyway got it running last night, DCC chipped with a Bachmann chip, runs lovely however I notice the bogies don't pivot in the centre and they sort of swing down at the front when the loco is lifted up, as my layout has inclines it's causing a few issues where the track transitions between the flat and incline as the bogies don't pivot as 'normal' anyone else noticed any issues on inclines? Other than that a cracking little loco (had to be bought as I've driven a couple of Gbrf 73s!)
  21. got the last bit of track fitted and wired up this evening new loop fitted took a video of the new line up and running and with trains running in both directions https://youtu.be/MpHPtLlQYJ4 view from the door
  22. I think I'm going to finish this series now, last model was a very nice mobile generator artic but the latest is a bit too obscure for me... A mobile airport baggage loader Admittedly I can adapt it to use in my oil terminal area of the layout by changing it to use to carry equipment but I think I've had my fill of them now
  23. I did wonder but the 4 is central to the mount It's most likely there is a weighbridge or like there and 4 is the max (the one at chirk is 3mph max)
  24. Loving the 4MPH speed board in the picture above, not seen one of those before!
