  1. Well I thought I was only going to get an hour at the show tomorrow but my job has been slightly changed so I don’t have to rush off quite so early now, can enjoy upto 3 hours there instead, shopping list at the ready and looking forward to it
  2. Some from today, 67 again, Tyseley to Wrexham and back to Rugeley Moor st 08 in Tyseley My train And into shrewsbury an hour early so I had a chance for a cup of tea with my dad on the platform as he happened to be in shrewsbury this afternoon Dark by the time I left Wrexham Shrewsbury Rugeley And I got off at Walsall and went Home
  3. If your saying you saw a loco hauled set ‘south of harrow’ I’d say you were actually south of Neasden jn as that’s where the chiltern loco hauled sets peel off and head towards Birmingham via high Wycombe, it will have been running on the far lines to the right (as you head into london), no chiltern loco hauled stuff goes via harrow as they don’t have trip cocks fitted and in all honesty that line has no where for them to realistically go
  4. A bit like this famous pic https://undertheradar.military.com/2010/07/top-gun-moment/
  5. I’m on that RHTT set this Sunday, conducting it Hereford to shrewsbury and back, (Sunday is the only day it visits shrewsbury) 66s are pretty well sealed from getting crud in the engine bay, it does however get everywhere, I go through 3 jackets a season if I’m on the cannon enough!
  6. Few from today, class 70 crewe to Bescot Crewe ETD, an 80s, 90s and 00 loco? Waiting to go 37716 in crewe And Bescot
  7. PG Tips monkey filming at Marylebone, johnny Vegas was there too
  8. That's more to do with the modeller than the prototype design! As I say I've had to compromise a touch on the seating layout of the genny coaches
  9. Blimey, 3 pages after a day!! I must admit I quite like them, travelled in them lots and driven a fair few of them too, from a drivers point of view they are not a bad little unit on the whole, you have to have your wits about you during leaf fall though as they can get a bit lively The cab is fairly comfy, a better driving position than say a 150/2 for example, simple design, easy to fault find stuff, no complicated electronics to bring you to a stop I do hope one is preserved when they are withdrawn from service as, like it or not, they are a key part of our railway heritage
  10. Some from last night, 67s round the midlands Started by dropping my van in tyseley Then over to Tamworth to meet the train, got a vid of a few of the trains that passed through while I was there https://youtu.be/Y8hm0uUBC6A 170 with a bird stuck in the coupler, hope someone notices before they couple it! Then my train came in and away I went to Stratford, had to wait at Whitlocks end for the train in front Stratford Back out to Hatton, waiting to go to fenny Compton Then it was fenny to whitacre via Coventry and nuneaton, grabbed a pic at Coventry on the way back while waiting the road Then back to Stratford Into moor st And into tyseley and shut down And home I went
  11. Thanks, realised I forgot to paint the SGT interior while I was batch painting I'm getting into it now, next up will be the TRC and PLP coaches that I've already converted (1256 and 999550), as it happens they were in my train last night so I grabbed some pics, they also have external lighting so I will add that as well, pretty much the same as the NMT one with train lights the other with milepost lights
  12. Well my wife decided to something nice for the kids this evening, decorated the house, set up the projector (as shown on page 1 of this thread), popped out for 1/2 hour to take them to see some of the neighbours (pre arranged) only to come back to find the Bowl of sweets she left on the step out of view from the pavement stolen and the kids pumpkins smashed up all over the road in front of the house, found the bowl a couple of streets across (obviously empty) Thankfully she didn't put the speakers in the window for the projector or no doubt they would have been vandalised too, very disappointed
  13. As rail west says, not exactly new fangled!! HOWEVER...... There is a new version of it called a POSA signal (proceed on sight authority signal), I think I've got my head round how it works but I've never actually seen one, I'm sure simon can enlighten us about it futher but it looks exactly like a position light shunt signal mounted below a main aspect but it has the ability to flash 2 white lights, from what I can make out it is used in high density areas where the train in front may be say sat in the next station but foul of the overlap for the signal behind it, a way of keeping trains moving as it were, as a driver you would be expected to travel at a speed to be safe to stop short of any obstructions etc, same principal as a shunt signal As I say I've not seen one but have had a brief on them
  14. It's funny but that photo is the only one that I have taken of it where you can clearly see the different paints, daytime pics just don't seem to highlight it
  15. It does indeed have 2 shades of yellow, the 'yellow end' starts just in front of the OHLE flash sticker (wrapping about 6" around the side of the unit) Very hard to see though https://flic.kr/p/KZ6foZ
  16. Well it does have 'Network rail' written on the sides so that may have caused a bit of confusion Anyhoo it was this train..... http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H20031/2017/10/30/advanced (I left it in Heaton on Saturday)
  17. Thanks, enjoying doing the extra bits on the NMT, adds another dimension to it Painted the interiors One of them in place Then had a look at 977993 Stripped down the chassis Got some DCC concepts pick ups And fitted them to the bogies of the coach, put one on each bogie to get good pick up But That's for later on when I fit the decoder to the coach, going to fit a decoder to each coach Before I do that I needed to do a bit of work to the chassis, cut part of the skirting off Added a piece of channel in its place Into which I've fitted 2 12v surface mount LEDs Powered up from the track so a bit bright, will be dimmer when powered through the decoder Similarly the interior lights powered from the track for now Got some Bachmann passengers to add, need to give them hi-viz gear though Hopefully I can get some very fine wire to get the decoder in place this week and get it wired up properly, this coach will have interior lights and track inspection lights, maybe pantograph lights too (but I've never seen them lit on the real thing) 977994 will have interior lights and milepost marker lights below the solebar, The other coaches will just have interior lights fitted
  18. Just set up the projector for tomorrow night, looks quite effective in my opinion £40 projector, £9 sheet from dunelm mill and downloaded AtmosFX horror scenes with sounds coming through some computer speakers
  19. only managed one last night from the proper camera as its so dark on the north wales coast outside mostyn! 60076 "dunbar" on an engineers back to basford hall, 60085 on the rear, first time ive had this loco since its naming, and also a rare one to get over this side of the country 60076 in Mostyn by jim scott, on Flickr
  20. I didn't have the rake of 25 last night in the end but watched t trundle by while I was in my train, there were no rakes with more than one genny in them unfortunaly, same again at Basford hall, another 3 sets and all 'normal' configuration of one genny fitted wagon on the end of the rake
  21. not quite but i can at least have a nose at the 5 rakes and see if any have more than one genny wagon
  22. yeah 20 is the most ive worked in the past, 25 should be an experience, luckily ive go the empties off site!
