Gonna have to try and get on that train at some point, never done the Haydock branch! Some from today, iport job 66717 “good old boy” turn for the Masborough shot! TPE unit Bus on a bridge And ready to leave iport Same tomorrow and Saturday, then 6 days of it next week too! -
Yes, and I believe that caused an issue early on in testing as every train was braking at exactly the same point for the same restrictions causing the track to wear quickly in the same place rather than evenly over a wider area based on drivers ‘ball size’ some break early, some brake late! I think the speed curves were relaxed slightly to allow for it in the end

Yes the grilles are black on the 60 Some from last night, Doncaster to Landor st tank train LNER livery Azuma, didn’t realise at the time this was the first time it had been out, I put a pic on Twitter before I set off from Doncaster and when I put the phone back on when I got off at Landor st I had 60 notifications for likes and reteeets, it had been seen 3000 plus times, most likes and retweet’s have been from Japanese people! Then my train came in on the goods, should have been platform 3! Double headed with 66719 and 66766 And away to Saltley where the train continued to Cardiff -

I got mine from a cash converters type shop for £110, a Canon D1200 which I think id pretty good value, for a 30 to 200 zoom lens too My point and go bridge camera is playing up as the tripod fell over and the fixed lens became slightly loose so sometimes has trouble focusing so I thought I’d try the slr for what it cost -

yep, cant fault em, i must admit id been having doubts as to whether id done the right thing leaving colas for gbrf for reasons that i will keep to myself but this whole upsetting episode to me proved i'd done the right thing, there was no "oh can you just move it to such and such" or "we have no one to relive you" which has happened in the past with colas when ive had a crisis, the loco was screwed down and left running and i was heading home within 10 minutes, the MD of Iport ran me to the GBRf offices without issue, a car was commandeered without question (and collected from my house the next day), as it happened i noticed the train left doncaster 3 hours late that evening and was practically on time into southampton and was on time northbound the day after too so the service wasn't effected (not that it was a priority concern of mine at the time) -

as promised some pics from the dslr camera, never used one before so not quite sure what im doing but im sure i'll crack it soon ready for decent night shots etc homeward bound next day, sun on the wrong side shot masborough (too dark this pic) iport had to have a few days off as my father in law died on wednesday afternoon, i actually left the train in doncaster and rushed away in a hire car to get back to north wales to collect the kids from my brother in laws as my wife had to rush off to manchester cant fault GBRf at all, once i got the call i rang control who found me a car, they even offered to taxi me from doncaster to deeside should i have not felt up to driving and they have been very supportive over the last couple of days, i'm back in on monday night though on a doncaster to landor st tank train again, thanks to work arranged around me being able to take and collect the little un from school -
Apologies if this have been posted elsewhere, yet another bridge bash, this time on Anglesey on the disused Amlwch branch https://twitter.com/angleseycouncil/status/1050668694907453440?s=21 Foreign driver done a good job of relocating the bridge a few ft futher down the road!

Flickr is your friend for images of what it may be seen pulling TBH I’ve only seen it a few times at work and it’s been hauling the ex EWS HTA hopper wagons with either coal or stone in, as it an ex EWS loco too it has a knuckle coupling hence why it’s on those particular jobs quite a bit I’ve yet to drive it (or biffa) but have have a few of the other ex EWS 66s either side of it numerically

Seriously! I don’t live in Birmingham either but pass though new st for work quite often and many times on the basis of the posts in this thread have called in to Ian Allan and grabbed me a bargain or two between changing trains I for one appreciate melmerby’s posts (and don’t moan when someone puts up posts saying such and such model shop nonwhere near me is having a walk in sale that I can’t get to!)

Intermediate stations, avoiding Birmingham..
big jim replied to rockershovel's topic in Wheeltappers
Yeah that’s it, every other one goes via Coventry, just couldn’t remember exactly which it was As it happened I tried to get on a new st to reading train on Sunday (bound for banbury) but gave up as it was full to bursting to the point if dangerous Sat for 30 mins in new st for the following Bournemouth bound service and I practically had the whole train to choose from seat wise! -

It’s also shut every night this week too as I’m discovering travelling back from coleshill every night! I come off at Stafford south (13) as its quicker to get though there than sit in the traffic waiting to leave the motorway at 14 then head off through eccleshall and the A51 to avoid all the wagons threading round stone (which also has long term roadworks which is a pain!) -

I think they are going to ‘car share’ when they meet up hence why rockershovel wants his mate to avoid city centres to meet him
