  1. YAY it’s that time of year again, Rail’s advent calendar Day 1 https://railsofsheffield.com/bundles/31/golden-valley-loco-wagon-pack-bundle
  2. regards that blanket 50 yesterday i had to phone erewash signaller to see if we were still under it at toton as the notices had stopped via the gsm-r, he knew nothing about it at all despite the warning we got being for as you say the wcml and east midlands south! similar to you i remote book on and have done for the last 7 or so years, all my notices come electronically and can be tracked to when you opened them and for how long etc, the only thing we dont see is late notices but we can and do get them emailed to us as and when through the day (ok its not much use when in the cab driving but you may get something important through when you put the pad/phone on on a break)
  3. or thin! better not say too much as hes a lurker on here kev was actually my classroom instructor when i started driving for FNW, both ended up at DRS, Colas and we started the same day at GB the other month too

  7. I knew someone called Ewan Kerr And I genuinely know someone called Michael hunt who likes to be known as mike
  8. We resolved that one a bit futher up this page, it’s actually nearer to Wrexham than that, admittedly I thought it was as far back as bersham when we got the rough area correct
  9. is it spot mr delamar day or something! i spotted the train in crewe this morning while i was filling my car up at tesco petrol station, no delamar bonus for me though
  10. im glad you asked that as i needed to phone up today about christmas anyway! its volunteers first then if jobs are uncovered and your booked to work then you cop for a job, im booked to work christmas and boxing day but have also volunteered for it asking for a late on turn so i can have christmas morning with the family, dinner, queens speech, sleep then go to work, ive always done the same at colas too and got jobs out of old oak common/greenford around midnight back north, lets see what i get this year

  12. Cheers, I’ll get some tomorrow for the electrician/plasterboarder to fit as he goes along
  13. Finally the insulation is finished, my dad came over again to help finish it off and move the last of the offcuts to the tip, ended up with 2 full sheets left over which my wife has put on facebook for a bargain price and they have sold already! the electrician did the first fix last week too and he’s coming back on Thursday to board out the plasterboard too, lots of wires in place for plugs on all walls, 2 high up for the projector we have planned, extra light feed and 2 wires to outside for security lights front and side Fully insulated (and doorframe in place)
  14. Couple of nights of the rail milling machine, only 2 pictures though, worked it crewe to Lichfield last night and Lichfield to nuneaton tonight Nuneaton with 66736 And another Bachmann LTD ED 66745 ‘modern railways’ luckily I managed to get that one a few weeks back on ebay for less than £100
  15. I’ll get me a Bachmann one at some point, you never know one may appear in the rails ‘advent calendar’! Some from today, same loco back to donny Coleshill Iport More groundwork’s going on for an extension Train Split and pushed back in until it’s unloaded tomorrow Away to the hump at Belmont And into decoy to keep the loco that keeps stalking me, 66711, company
  16. Is it possible to buy D9009 on the layaway scheme or is it different for the rails if Sheffield releases?
  17. Got me a 66 thanks! Quick update too, only 3 66s left as of 10am Still 2 56xx left And 3 birdcage coaches
  18. If you don’t know what ‘the types’ are you must be one of them Joking apart I mean Dress code I suppose, I don’t mean it in a disparaging way but you can generally spot an ‘enthusiast’ be it model or real thing from a distance! Older modellers/enthusiasts, satchel/shoulder bag , beige m+s jacket, comfy slacks and beige comfy shoes (too cold for socks and sandals) Middle aged modellers: not quite reached the comfy slack stage, likes to think they are in the younger enthusiast stage but buys clothes from jacamo as they are a nice fit, “trendy” shoezone trainers as their knees hurt (this is my category!) Younger modellers/enthusiasts, hoody, SLR camera photographing anything that moves before they get in the train, small backpack, jeans, trainers (T-shirt with some random no kettles, depot logo, sci-fi logo during the summer) Both easily distinguishable from the footy fans on the same train, black bomber jacket zipped up to the top, Black jeans, Lonsdale trainers, chewing gum, can of Stella in jacket pocket (Plus being as I’m in uniform the enthusiasts make a new line for me asking if anything special is due) I do a lot of people watching on this job
  19. Unfortunately I can’t make it but waiting for the train at crewe now I can see plenty of ‘the types’ waiting to get on the WMT train to brum
  20. Some from yesterday, iport job again 66707 running to the end of the yard to head back to Roberts road Only to find when we got there that there was a problem with the fuel plant so we had to do a loco swap with a fully fuelled loco which happened to be 66727 And back to coleshill Unfortunately for me that’s another ltd ed 66 I’m gonna have to buy, weathered but at £180 I will wait and see if one comes up on eBay cheaper!
  21. hexthorpe goods for example (the only place I know of it) has the magnet for the ‘exit signal’ from the goods slightly beyond the signal It however doesn’t fit in with your further description of passing on a position light as there isn’t one, it works with the main aspect, the signal prior to it has no AWS fitted so I’m wondering if it’s some sort of ‘reminder system’ as the next signal is out of sight Regards south of kingmoor, I can say I’ve ever seen the scenario there in the last 12 years of signing it
  22. That narrows it down a bit, gonna be saying hello to a lot of people
