  1. I went up the shard a couple of days before Christmas and I remember thinking “I’m sure that’s 34theletterbetweenB+D’s house” I can see in the distance!
  2. Only took one pic yesterday of a freightliner 66 passing through coleshill parkway! Iporting again today
  3. Hawkins bizarre in grand central birmingham is shutting down, a few Hornby bits and bobs in there such as the flying Scotsman set for £138, Hornby junior set £22(ish) various track packs etc but also things like oxford diecast gift packs too Not huge savings over some internet prices but may be worth a look if your passing
  4. Mine is to get the garage conversion complete by March (before I have to pay the council for an extension to the building regs time) Then hopefully get a layout up and running by the end of the year
  5. I’m very surprised there are not more replies to this thread, I think it’s a cracking idea
  6. Not a clue! Anyway some from today before I go out tonight, crewe to Trafford park a couple of times then back to tuebrook Trafford park Leg stretch at Stockport Sandbach Then back to Manchester via styal Trafford park Back to crewe where we caught up with another road learner that had come in from northwich I then took the loco back to tuebrook and with the help of our very own Michael Delamar on the phone got it stabled up (1st time I’ve worked a loco in to tuebrook for a while!) Day off tomorrow before 4 days of iport
  7. PM me your address you can have my copy, I know I should but I never watch the DVDs!
  8. I get a lot Hyundai I30s as hire cars and the Kia version too, Cee’d? I am seriously impresssed by both, if I was in the look out for a ‘new’ car then I’d have a look at a few year old ‘GT line’ model which can be picked up for between 6k and 9k depending on age etc A few weeks back I got a Mini Countryman for a few days which was absolutely brilliant and I was shocked when I saw how much I could pick up say a 10 plate one for, sub £9k again right down to £6k, another car I’d seriously consider
  9. Sounds like my old 5L phaeton, beautiful V10 howl, I do miss that, not the fuel and tyre bill though
  10. Catch up time Iport job again Fuelling at Roberts road Iport And today, a road learning loco round the independent lines in crewe, off to Trafford park with it tomorrow Basford hall Sandbach Crewe station And stabled up until tomorrow
  11. Received my subs copy yesterday, I’m in love...scorbiton is absolutely stunning, given me soooooo many ideas (that I’ll never fit in) for the new garage layout in particular the town climbing the hillside in the corner
  12. I discovered My Argos convection Heater that used to heat my shed burned out the plug and socket a few months back, the plug itself had melted one of the metal pins and the socket was burned out in the relevant hole too, that heater was only used when I was in the shed, never left to provide frost protection thankfully the shed is now OOU anyway as I transfer everything to the garage but it was certainly an eye opener as I was going to use the heater in our caravan which had something similar happened in there could have been far more serious
  13. Got to say though chris (I know that’s not your real name) you have been very helpful to me this year regards my garage conversion with building regs, planning permission etc so another thanks from me too
  14. General modelling: will have to have a think Layout: Deadman’s lane Eclectic; Cwm Prysor Workbench: Phil Mc, newbryford (both very inspirational) Prototype: the GC/Stockport thread Poster: Michael Delamar as he puts some fantastic links to some obscure vintage pictures up
  15. How about best status update of year, ‘Boris’ wins hands down with this gem “It’s a rare treat getting to eat the wife out now and again”
  16. I love the Skoda superb, iirc one of them has the same chassis as the VW phaeton/Bentley flying spur I’ve just ditched my ‘dream car’ in favour of something a bit more realistic for the same reason of racking miles up in it, I’ve swapped my 5L LWB VW pheaton for a £1000 mini convertible and am having a right laugh in it, fuel has gone from 18mpg to 41mpg, tax down from £550 to £255 and I’m getting loads of cheap bits off eBay to make it my own!
  17. Just used the voucher for some bits for my mini, a Haynes manual for it and a new tool chest from the Halfords eBay shop (to fit the new bits to the mini!), very nearly bought the same one over the counter for £10 more yesterday, glad I waited now! then after seeing the above posts I went back and had a look through hattons eBay shop and realised I could have got the Harry needle 07 for £80, ! No doubt there will be a similar offer on again soon (hopefully)
  18. i was after some bits for my mini yesterday and offered the seller £30 against his £40 buy it now, he came back with £36 which i accepted and with the code it has taken the item down to £30.60, just got it sat in my basket while i decide what else to buy with the code
  19. You can only use it once this time si get a basket full of stuff on the go before using it
  20. Couple of hours later from the above pic, the completed falcon Joanna’s ship will have to wait, off to Blackpool in a bit to see the circus then back to work iporting the rest of the week
  21. That’s my Boxing Day sorted... We got the falcon finished, jabbas ship tomorrow maybe (and a pic of the completed falcon)
