  2. to me there feels no extra ‘benefits’ as such as I don’t use the galleries and the extra PM space is neither here nor there to me either but when it only costs me just under £1 a quarter extra to switch from the printed mag to RMweb gold with the ‘bonus’ of a free ticket to a show and back catalog of BRM then it’s a no brainier as the site is a great resource, lots of friendly people etc the flip side is the likes of Flickr pro, I’ve not signed up for that as I really see no point in paying for that as all I used it for was putting nice pics up on line, I didn’t use it for on line storage or linking pictures just there for my own vanity purposes to get ‘likes’, I can still use it for research purposes as before but I’m not paying £50 a year for something where there is no obvious personal benefit or bonus to subscribing
  3. Just found this thread by accident! i used to work down dock road in connahs quay for my stepdad who owned ‘c.c.crump and co’ the railway wagon builders who were based in dentith sidings next to the quay when railway traffic dried up back in about 1996 we lifted the track, looking back we should have kept some of the stuff we scrapped, there were all sorts of things like GCR weighted points levers and throws we just binned! one thing I did keep though, and it’s still in my dads garage is a WM&CQR bullhead rail chair Would they have been able to access the docks from the chord that used to come off the wrexham-Dee marsh line that ran or was that a later addition?
  4. Some from today, same job, same loco bescot Toton chinook And back at bescot same tomorrow, last one of the week
  5. I was thinking about the goldmembers having some sort of uniform to go with the secret handshake so when attending exhibitions we can spot each other in the crowd, how about this although looking at some of the reviews on ‘wish.com’ Andy Y may have already bought one.....
  6. Mall my pics are from the iPhone6 plus (unless otherwise stated) it’s a cracking camera
  7. My BMW Mini Cooper S had its MOT yesterday, first one in 3 years since being laid up in a barn, I’d had the brakes replaced prior to the test as they were shot but it failed on a tyre and ‘major oil leak’ ordered the tyre and speaking with the MOT guy he seems to think the leak is the oil filter housing gasket which isn’t a major job to do so all being well i’ll have it back tomorrow, regards the leak the car was sat on my drive for over a month and didn’t drop any oil at all when stationary or while I had it running so it’s likely it’s something that’s been disturbed while being serviced, the other mechanic who worked on the car showed me the remains of the oil filter that was fitted which just comprised of the centre plastic moulding and remnants of the paper filter which had pretty much disintegrated, he’s pretty confident he’s got most of it out (it’s also had an oil change anyway) but he said it hadn’t been serviced for a very long time (which 2-3 years stationary is understandable!)
  8. Some from today, 60 leaving on a steel train (note the fly that flew past as I took the pic!) Another one in the yard And a bit later on with a far darker sky, it snowed not long afterwards!
  9. Regard the back issues do the videos play on a tablet or phone (iPhone/iPad)? i can access the back catalog without a problem on both devices but the ‘click here for video’ on the front page of each issue does nothing
  10. I’ve just swapped from the print subscription to rmweb gold, works out about £1 a quarter more so seems like good value to me I’ve never watched any of the DVDs attached to the front of the mag but I’m hoping with the digital edition and my projector and iPhone video lead I will watch them in the man cave via one of the viewing platforms provided
  11. There would still be people happy to travel in open wagons if it meant they could red pen some of the track I get to go over daily! just a couple from today, same job 70005 passing through toton and my train with 66782 again waiting to leave toton old bank
  12. Got myself a Nintendo switch at the weekend, there is an Argos outlet in Walsall that gets returns and refurbished items so I picked it up for £169 compared to Argos full price of £250+ going to put it in man cave to save ‘borrowing’ my youngest lads switch when we want to play in there (and we can do heas to head games too) picked up a few cheap games for it such as wwe wrestling for £8 which on the big screen should be fun, similarly got a pinball game which looks fun slight aside, anyone with an Xbox one got ‘we Happy few’, I don’t normally go for first person shooter type games but it looks quite good and is free on gamepass
  13. Very good, I can see 2 more Andys hiding in Beyoncé’s top too
  14. I quickly scrolled through the post and saw £379.95! nearly dropped my lunch
  15. It’s just the yard they are taking over some from today on the first day of the change over pullman 67 My train after arrival into toton And the loco for the return trip got it the rest of the week now and iport in Saturday!
  16. One from the southbound run Friday morning then last night/this morning it was 3 people’s jobs due to shortages! First up was an intermodal hams hall to nuneaton with 66727 then a car over to banbury to work the IM train back to derby And on to the rtc Then back to Hams hall to move 2 locos to bescot The new order at bescot from Monday when GBRf take over the yard from DB Schenker back in on Monday bescot to Toton tripper, one of the new jobs we have gained under the new network rail contracts
  17. Are these sold out now? The reason I ask is if anyone is on the lookout for some trident trains in nantwich have 4 triple packs of VTG wagons for sale on behalf of a customer for £150 a pack (richard does mail order too)

  19. And that’s what’s happened! she is so placid and loving that we sat down and spoke to the adoption company and came up with the suggestion that we would like to keep her to act as a ‘host cat’ to other foster cats who will be staying with us while awaiting new homes so it looks like she is now ours and we will still get other cats on a temporary basis as for Odin, his funeral has been arranged and he will be being cremated next Tuesday and we get the ashes back the week after that we are going to spread under the tree he comically got stuck in a few weeks back that my wife had to climb to rescue him out of!
  20. I think I’ve found out who the boss is with the foster cat!
  21. Just a couple from tonight 168s in banbury And my train in crewe
  22. The weak point was the door catches, many a time we had to put a ratchet strap round the container at seaforth to keep the door shut prior to being lifted off the wagons by a Valmet! Of course those that did burst open and lose a bit of coal around the wagon frames provided a nice source of free coal for the guys doing the maintainance
