  1. We felt we needed a car in the house straight away so got a ‘foster cat’ the day after who has now adopted us and is ours permanently, she’ll never be a replacement for Odin, but if he hadn’t have got her it would have been a very empty house after not having a cat for 5 years after our previous one died after 22 years! I had such a vivid dream the other morning after I nodded off following a call from the vet saying odin’s ashes sweet there, he came bounding in the room and jumped on my chest and was snuggling up to me, licking my face, he was the same cat but totally grey, I could feel him, stroke him, talk to him, like he was there then he got up left the room and that was it, almost like he was saying goodbye! soft I know but boy it was so real!
  2. yellow axlebox covers blue dampers red fuel gauge sight glasses
  3. We have Odin ashes back now, going to do something with them in a couple of weeks after our holidays
  4. Anyway, local bargain time, Lidl in maryport cumbria has one of the popular display cabinets left at £50 that might mean other Lidl stores may have remaining stock at the same price too?
  5. You have mentioned the shop that shall not be mentioned, now look what you’ve done
  6. I used tyvek on the internal framing of my garage build.... insulation in front of that with an air gap between then plasterboard on top Going back to the wooden shed I did in 2013.... Kingspan in between the rafters, probably should have used tyvek too Then boarded over that with ply never had an issue with damp other than where some of the roof felt came off and let water in
  7. I’ve only been to Lowestoft 3 times, however all 3 occasions I’ve been lucky enough to be driving class 37s to and from there, once via the ‘wherry line’ to Norwich and twice via the east Suffolk line via saxmunden the thing I found fascinating was I wholly expected the line to be billiard table flat from Ipswich to Lowestoft, how wrong I was! An absolute fascinating line and up and down all the way, the line via brundall was exactly how I expected it to be an dit was nice to drive over landmarks such as the swing bridge at reedham after seeing pics of it for many years shame I’ll probably not see it again, but who knows, never say never! Some of my pics lowestoft, note the detection bars on the track beccles gt yarmouth norwich
  8. Hopefully your not doing ‘big bertha’ either blue and orange eh.....is your wife called “chippy” or “chinook”?
  9. Can’t say I’ve tried rockwool but celotex kept my shed useable in the summer, it required heating in the winter though of course rockwool will fill the void and leave you without an an air gap so the shed will be more likely to rot as already pointed out
  10. Took the mini to a bit of private land and let my eldest have a drive of it up and down an old runway, grabbed a pic of it while we were there, looking smart the Cooper is still waiting to come back from the garage, brake master cylinder and servo needs changing as it loses pedal pressure at the first pump then it comes back straight away, happens every time it’s left to stand for a short while
  11. Another big push today with my dad, doors on the cabinets and wall units built and the 2 biggest ones put in place, still 2 x 300 wide ones to put up, one in the layout room and the other in the utility bit Wall unit, same type is on the opposite wall in the utility room And of course no ‘man cave’ would be complete without a nice leather recliner when watching films or trains go by! The real final push is going to be fitting the cabinet plinths and wood laminate beading around the edge of the room, worktop in the utility area, finish the internal door architrave, then it’s plywood to the cabinet tops for the fiddle yards and make a start on the layout! Oh and wire up the surround sound speakers that I’ve already attached to the walls
  12. I had a look at the book at the weekend, not really much about connahs quay docks itself or mention of the railway but plenty of pics of the vessels they built which may be useful reference for your timescale the same author did a book book about the railways around Saltney which is a cracker, absolutely fascinating, I didn’t realise there was a line that crossed the main England/wales road (pre A55 bypass) and ran to the docks parallel with the mainline to Holyhead serving various industries down the docks! Again a nice section on the boatbuilders too edit: here it is on amazon, well worth £6 or so (I’ve just bought one) Railways Around Saltney: A Pictorial Record https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0955388201/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_gM4QCbC8B41TN

  14. Popped down to my mums earlier to see her as she’s not well, she has been sorting out folders for me and my brothers and sister with keepsakes, photos etc in, my folder had some pics of a couple of my cars... my mini 1000 which after this ended up with a 1340 engine and 12” wheels, can’t believe it had 10” and my first car, a Vauxhall chevette that was terracotta when I bought it but it went through the wagon spray booth at c.c.crumps and got redone in 2 pack black you see here, it went in again after I removed the vinyl roof and and had it done sprayed black too and parked by my mums now also a modern classic MR2
