  1. class 70s can do that self load bank trick too, they sound awesome doing it but its frowned upon if a driver does it (as an instructor of course i naturally had to demonstrate the function to my trainees!)
  2. Some others from the weekend Possession near Chester, loco in Basford hall And on site then during the day the little un wanted me to have, in his own words a ‘father son day with your favourite child’! Popped into the heritage centre and had a go on the miniature railway amongst other things then went to an open day at crewe model engineers railway near nantwich Then back to the rail miller on Sunday, craven arms to hereford and working at shelwick jn Then last night it was nuneaton to Trafford park, it was then discovered we had been planned to go through a possession so it got diverted in the way back via bescot to Coventry where I’ve just got off and heading back to nuneaton for the car! nuneaton Sandbach Uncoupled and running round at Trafford park Split and unloaded Back together and ready to leave Waiting at Piccadilly and that was that, 3 more days of it this week, not a bad job at all but the timings are shocking northbound so hopefully someone can try and get them changed
  3. I dunno, knowing one of the drivers who drives the NMT they probably wouldn’t notice if the train wasn’t there!
  4. Just passed a rake of those wagons in bescot yard and everyone of them has been ‘tagged’!
  5. Yeah I had an s type too, only 4 year old when I got it, absolutely loved it never missed a beat and absolutely immaculate inside and out mine was was the 3l V6 petrol one (pics in the modern classics thread)
  6. So they are more than just ‘Papua new guinea” then
  7. It’s for the new flow, there is only me and one other west mids guy who signs the route from nuneaton to Manchester via all possible routes, the other guys are going to have some work ahead of them to learn it as have I to show them!
  8. Must admit the cemex 66 does look very smart indeed! just a couple from last night, ready to fire up at craven arms and during a stop at gobowen waiting for the passenger train in front to clear the section, my dad was there videoing us too should have been the last night on it but I’ve been asked to come back in tonight to move the lot to hereford ready for next weeks work, then I’m back on it Sunday night too (after a possession near Chester on Saturday night! Then its looking like a solid month of Trafford park trains while other drivers learn the route with me
  9. Yes, the last few pages are not inspiring me with confidence!
  10. Sorry bad wording (I think as I still don’t know if it is crowdfunded) maybe I should have put “which one are we buying?” as there is so much contradictory and confusing information
  11. If only we knew which model we would be signing up for!!
  12. The picture on baz Jones’ post on the previous page looks to be the same as the cad drawings ladder wise edit: its the same pic Simon has linked to above
  13. Unfortunately I won’t make it before it shuts, sounds like it would be pointless anyway however I am mainly after buildings and scenics for the layout at the mo which is typical (most of my other Low relief buildings have come from the discount table there over the last few months!)
  14. No this one is near cummertrees/powfoot hopefully the dropped pin below might work 54.984962, -3.311424 Near Dumfries and Galloway https://www.google.com/maps/place/54.984962,+-3.311424/@54.985134,-3.3101369,15z/data=!3m1!1e3
  15. Thanks for the clarification, yes I’ll admit the timing not long after the DJ models debacle has put me off clicking the ‘buy it now’ button, I’ve never bought into anything crowdfunded and what went on there has made me weary of dipping my toe, however I’m still unsure if this wagon is a crowd funded enterprise reagrds Keith, I’ve not heard of him or seen any of his posts on here (we must move in different circles, era and modelling wise), and this wagon is the first time I’ve come across the name of either his company or himself (is that a good or bad thing, I don’t know) so was unaware of any potential issues, black holes in his business model or reluctance to heed advice from others but I am now i too hope him all the best with the venture and hope the wagon sees the light of day and that we on the forum get to see updates, progress reports etc as I would really like to order one or two basic wagons (can’t see the point if the DCC doors tbh) but there is just that little niggle that is preventing me clicking to buy one this early in the day (saying that I’ve still not ordered a hattons 66 and won’t dountil I see one in the flesh and first reports come back from buyers as to the build and running quality etc)
  16. Last time I looked many years ago The big flasks used to go to Devonport dockyard
  17. Now I’m confused as to which wagons these are Simple question then, can I use these wagons “prototypically” with my DRS stock or were they withdrawn before drs came along? (The website suggests DRS use them but general consensus seems otherwise)
  18. Yet another summer has passed at our caravan in silloth and yet another summer of taking the tourist route back from Dumfries after a day out, passing the museum and saying “we forgot to go there again” as it’s always about 18:00 when we pass! funnily enough I was driving back the other week and I had the sat nav on satellite map mode and I spotted the line from the mainline to the exchange sidings on the map, obviously you see it go beneath you as you enter eastriggs but it’s not until you see it as an ariel map view you realise how big it was, then low and behold this thread starts which made me look further into it when I got home, I assume the system used to go right the way over to longtown too looking at what you can see of remaining trackbeds etc, now severed by the M6 as a slight aside going back toward Dumfries as the line approaches Annan (heading to Gretna) before the river bridge you can see a junction heading off toward the Solway at 90 degrees to the mainline heading into what is now a sand quarry but looking at the layout of some of the remaining buildings and the trees would that have at some point been a military depot too?
  19. I used Flickr as a resource, some good ones on there if the GBRf version taken from the footbridge over tonbridge yard If it’s any help here is a GBRf one I started 3 years ago (as still haven’t finished!) quite a bit if filling and cutting to do if you are making one, the biggest part being the sides, luckily the grilles aren’t flush and you can reuse, if you measure them right, some of the old grilles in different places
  20. Hmmm, will have to make sure before I order one then
  21. Certainly a wagon I’m interested in getting looking at the website i can only assume this isn’t a crowdfunded project like the GT3 as it says ‘add to basket’ rather than ‘express interest’ as after reading the best part of 4 pages of snide and below the belt comments about the company (and the proprietor) I’m not sure whether to order one incase I lose my money if the goods don’t appear it’s a shame for KR models as I’m sure there are others like me who would order one but are reluctant to thanks to comments on here?
  22. One from this morning at the end of the milling job the machine itself 66780 split from the unit (as is the other loco) same job tonight in Buckley
