  1. I didn’t want to get into the whole ripping the loco apart before it’s even arrived but having driven the colas 66 for quite a number of years I have lots of pics of them and I think I can see the issue unfortunately photobucket is down so I’ll have to link to someone else’s flickr What was bugging me is the spacing for the ‘colas Railfreight’ lettering appears correct on both sides as the GHT is on the separate body panel but as we can see the orange/yellow colour intersection on the single grille side is out, as pointed out it should go through the L, going back to hattons dave’s pic a couple of pages back you can just about make out the orange at the bottom of the body shell finishes near as dammit half way between the 2 sandboxes, compare it to this picture...... copyright Robert on Flickr you can see the orange finishes nearer to the front sandbox, therefore I personally recon there is too much orange on that side

  3. I thought that was stock2007’s ‘pink one’
  4. The last few replies go some way to prove to me that good old line side signals are a much better idea than ERTMS (certainly on a line like the Cambrian)
  5. A couple of the crossings that had the restrictions added ended up with a speed restriction akin to the sketch in father ted ‘speed 3’ with the big bunch of boxes in the road despite there being the same sort of visibility!
  6. That’s a very techy report! my IT expert ERTMS signing fellow driver will he wetting himself with excitement over some of the jargon, terminology and diagrams in there as I put a few pages back when this first came to light I too experienced a missing TSR one night while down there with a 97 on a ballast job, at first I thought it had been lifted/removed but when it reappeared the next night I reported it, turned out it wasn’t anything to do with this issue but still an oddity ive recently been asked to refresh ERTMS and the Cambrian, the route, lovely, the signalling, joy of joys, can’t wait to get back to that!
  7. Sounds fun! Ive just booked a skills day for my eldest lad (15yr old) for Christmas with young driver where he will get to drive at 70 mph on a ‘private motorway’ which is actually part of an old runway at the fire service training school in Moreton in marsh, they also get to practice avoiding action, slalom driving etc he’s already had half a dozen driving lessons with them over the last couple of years which will help him when he finally gets to go out on the road for real
  8. no i haven't, wouldnt mind a go though
  9. matches their sticks by the look of it
  10. but will you be out in your shorts, your well known to lots of drivers as “that guy who wears shorts even in the snow”
  11. if you read the newspaper report it says there were tests conducted afterwards regards line of sight etc, also it says there were no blindspot mirrors on the arclid truck but they have fitted them to the fleet now its surprising if you put ‘car pushed down motorway by lorry’ just how many incidents come up!
  12. Some from last night, Bicester to crewe started in crewe to get a train south new livery Pendolino 37608 Banbury, changed trains there, colas 70 heading north Chiltern 165 At Bicester, run round and ready to set off Into Hinksey to run round again, chiltern 68 at the turn back signal on the arrival line And run round again, I sat on the goods for 4 1/2 hours! And into crewe Couple of trains tonight, shrewsbury to crewe Stone train then a footplate swap back onto the MOD again back to Leamington
  13. i find it hard to believe a lorry driver wouldnt see a car being pushed along in front of his unit, or if not, to not be able to feel the initial bump or screeching of tyres, blowing of horn etc remember this from a few years back, the clio driver iirc got done too but how can you not see or feel this at 60mph edit: newspaper article added, yes the clio driver got done and the truck driver cleared, still cant see how he didnt know though! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1281575/Lorry-driver-shunted-Renault-Clio-motorway-60mph-cleared.html
  14. whereas I’m waiting to see the final model, see ‘real world’ reviews then just buy one, got to hope my gamble of not preordering what I recon will be one of the best selling models (66789) will work and there won’t be just one production run that will sell out before I can get hold of one! ill then hopefully get hold of some of the Bachmann 66s I’ve been after at a knock down price on eBay, I’ve noticed the prices are starting to drop nicely already to sensible prices
  15. I couldn’t add the joking emoji but I’m glad you can see the humour, there seems to be a distinct lack of it over the last few pages
  16. even if they came on and said, well actually we've made a mess of this model and its only got 4 wheels and those are oval! isnt that a bit extreme, did you order the model purely after viewing the content of one of the vidoes you watched or did you order it before you saw any videos having only seen pictures of the preproduction models?
  17. id agree about kimble not changing but risborough is totally different even since i first started going down there in 2010, new centre road, bi directional signalling, chinnor railway in the back platform, signal box open to the public i suppose since 2001 the line will have been doubled north of risborough too
  18. Regards a police car being in the right place at the right time, last weekend outside crew station a woman was reversing slowly into the one way taxi rank area and despite a taxi that was waiting to leave blowing his horn repeatedly she reversed very Very slowly into his front bumper, no damage, but right in front of a traffic police car, the bobby never got out but spoke to her and the taxi driver through the window she then drove off and went through a red light, the police car followed her with blues on and pulled her over, we saw her being breathalysed as we were walking back to the car then when we passed by again in the car she was sat in the back of the police car with the traffic police man moving her car off the road into a car park for her, I suspect she may have blown positive
  19. definatly here, mine are 15 and 18 year old and were scorned upon in the classics thread hence this one starting up
  20. howes is still going (don’t look to supply hattons stuff though)
  21. a quick google would suggest they have had them 2 years this month although they have only been repainted in the last 6 months or so just 3 pics from tonight, bescot to little Kimble via Ruislip to change ends west ruislip Then due to a scheduling mess up it was realised that I had been pathed in front of the final passenger service of the evening to Aylesbury so I had to pull into the down platform at risborough to allow it to pass me and head onto the single line to Aylesbury, I then had to head north out of the station then set back with my ground staff in the rear cab on back to back radios to access the single line myself! and into little Kimble, only 20 mins late, I then moved off towards Aylesbury where I shut the train down near marsh lane crossing and headed home back in Monday morning to bring it back to bescot
  22. There is one on eBay at £170, last week there was 10% off all purchases over £100 for 24 hours, I was very very tempted to get one but managed to resist (so far, if another 10% offer comes up I may be tempted!)
  23. But does it belong in the classic car or modern classics thread? (I’d say modern classics) my wife had an S reg 2.0 t-spark one in aquamarine about 12 years ago, lovely car but very heavy steering for her
  24. I’ve only had to pass 2 signals at danger on LUL lines and I had to advise the passengers over the PA that we would be coming to a halt, nothing to worry about etc
  25. that’s good, nowt worse than accidentally pushing through to emergency and there being nothing you can do until you stop i had a 150 once that Developed a fault en route between Rhyl and Chester that meant I had step 1 or emergency as my only options, if you went into step 2 you just came to a grinding halt in emergency unable to recover it, Control said it would be ok to proceed from Chester to Cardiff in passenger service! needless to say it never got beyond Chester as the next driver refused to take it
