  1. mine is the numark equivalent but I did used to use the Ortofon ones “back in the day” https://www.djkit.com/numark/numark-cc-1-cart-stylus.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI19XejOeF6AIVjbTtCh2sVACOEAQYEiABEgJ3PvD_BwE
  2. I had direct drive numarks too, agreed yes they are good, I’ve still got a single belt drive numark USB deck for converting vinyl, i need to get it connected to the new computer and download audacity though the one thing I did do was swap the standard cartridge for a numark ‘Concorde’ type stylus which improved the record quality no end, ive still got my technics headshells somewhere too i went crate digging the other week in Greenwich while I was in lodge at work, ended up coming back with my wheely suitcase full of records from the £1 bins, (And CDs from the 25p box) loads of mid 90s stuff in there that I used to have but sold and hadn’t managed to replace digitally, a big recording session coming up I recon
  3. Not much can beat 1210s for DJing, it’s amazing how nowadays a lot of ‘youngsters’ can’t use vinyl and beat match by ear ok I’m guilty as charged as making my job simple when it comes to DJing digitally by using the sync button for bpm matching but I still like to mix Tunes properly rather than just using auto an auto mix function i don’t however miss carrying and couple of record boxes to a club! ive just had to change my computer as the last one died so I’ve had to reload iTunes onto it, luckily I’ve managed to reuse my existing hard drive with my music on (40k tracks) but the iPad for some reason doesn’t recognise the iTunes library as being the same one from the old computer so is asking me to remove the (old library) tunes from my pad and replace them with the ones from my library, unfortunately my playlist of unmixed tunes I use for DJjng has also lost some 10000 tracks from the list, I think it was something to do with me trying Apple Music and it syncing the playlist to the cloud Which caused me to not be able to add certain files to the playlist, the files however are still on the computer and once I ended my subscription to Apple Music the files are useable again however I’ve got to delete the playlist old From the computer and start afresh so I’ve spent the last 2 hours clicking and pasting tunes into a new playlist that will then go on the iPad! ive made it from A to C so far and have put 1200 tunes in the playlist, I’ll carry on at the weekend, in a way it’s probably a good thing to have a bit of a sort out/cull as there are lots of duplicate tracks and stuff I’d never play in the old playlist so I’m hoping the new one may be a good 1000 tracks less
  4. Mmmmm technics 1210s, wish I still had mine!
  5. There was a staff competition last year so expect a new one at some point, my kids had the entry forms but they sat gathering dust and it went past the entry date, I was trying to get across to them that it would be quite an honour if they won but they weren’t interested! anyway some from Tuesday night, a rare occupancy of freight in Marylebone, certainly only the 2nd or 3rd I’ve ever taken in there banbury, same locos as the night before Marylebone Clearer pic once the unit left platform 1 After the drop in the morning it was back to Leamington, should have been banbury but there was some confusion over cars so we took a bit further, stopped at Risborough to allow a unit in front of us nice NSE 08 on the chinnor line and that was that, Iport tomorrow
  6. a guy did that with a 101 power car placed next to his house on the main road between Chester and crewe in the mid 2000s, he ended up having to move it as it was ‘a distraction to motorists’ https://preserved.railcar.co.uk/56342.html
  7. Just a couple from last night, bescot to Neasden ballast drop 66720, 5 hoppers and 66731 (all available from Bachmann!) bescot South Ruislip, waiting for the possession to be put around us, we then headed off toward Wembley dropping stone where required before changing ends, waiting for the possession to be lifted and heading back to banbury to lodge back in tonight, probably with the same locos dropping stone on the opposite line so it involves a trip into Marylebone station to change ends
  8. I think the reference is to The winter tyres advert on the bus as discussed on the previous page, typically it’s appeared on a new page out of context!
  9. Final night of IM on friday, Ferme park to banbury via oxford Ferme park, all alone this time Willesden high level changing ends to head back to cannonbury cannonbury, ready to trundle to oxford at 30mph via acton and greenford And after doing oxford and back to Bicester it was on to banbury and relief mixed week next week, engineers train at Neasden on Monday, one in Marylebone on Tuesday and Iport the end of the week
  10. i remember the bug eye scooby coming out and thinking ‘NO’ they have ruined it, it took the aggressive looking edge away from it, looking at them now I think they are actually a better looking car than it’s predecessor the wheels on redgates car are flipping gorgeous, those in black on my mini would look great but I’d have to change the brakes for some big calliper brembo’s for the full visual (and stopping) effect, it’s actually an easy mod in the mini as the JCW cars have bigger brakes but it’s the cost!
  11. Slightly OT but if anyone is after some discount wiper blades for their ‘modern classics’ or not so modern classics even euro car parts website has 50% off wipers until midnight tonight (28th feb) just got a set for the murano, they wanted £60 for Bosch flat blades (so £30) but strangely had a budget pair for £4.80, so £2.40, at that price it’s worth a try, if they are really really rubbish then in the bin they go!
  12. And some from last night/this morning Ferme park, 91 for company this time Hull trains paragon unit Out to grays via Upminster Then a trundle to watford, it’s a fair old trip when you consider it goes from below south east london to above north west london Then it was back to Stratford and onto Ferme park, this morning I had to go and pick up a car I’d bought in Newbury so after a few hours sleep in the train I went over to paddington And out to newbury got the car, left it en route to home to collect later and headed back to london for an afternoon sleep before work tonight, recording the chiltern line and Bicester to oxford
  13. I dunno, those Subaru boxer engines do sound a bit ‘tractory’ sometimes!
  14. I’ve just driven my ‘new’ suv/4x4 back from Newbury to hams hall, didn’t miss a beat at all, not much power compared to the Murano but a lot better fuel consumption and not as rattly! got to head back to london now before collecting it in the early hours of the morning for the final leg home, and then to tell my wife it’s her new car as she doesn’t know yet!
  15. I would love e an F-pace or even and E-pace but as I don’t spend more than a few grand on cars I suspect it will be a long long time before I get my hands on one and by then it would be a knacker!
  16. That’s my recollection too, it was at an open day in one of the dead end roads next to the portacabin type buildings to the south of the depot I think I may have pics of it somewhere from when I worked at DRS parked in the same location
  17. Weren’t there white half height boxes too which I seem to remember had a canvas type top pretty sure I didn’t dream them!
  18. last night was Leigh on sea, fenchurch st and shoeburyness ferme park Hornsey for a change ends Leigh on sea Fenchurch st and that was it for pics, tonight is Upminster, grays and Watford amongst other places
  19. I’ve bought a ‘new’ SUV last night as our current one, the Nissan Murano at 230k miles finally has lost it’s newness! it’s got to a point where I’ve had enough of throwing money at it every month, it needs 2 new tyres, the engine management light is on due to one of the catalitic converters playing up and the ABS light is lit as the sensor ring is damaged, not too much wrong with it and if I got those bits sorted and kept the fluids topped up it would soldier on for another 100k miles easily but after 5 years I’ve decided it’s time for a change so I’ve ended up buying a VW Touareg for a couple of grand off eBay, again not a new one, 2005 plate with 180k on the clock, 2.5 diesel with a superchip bluefin fitted, other than that bog standard hopefully it will be more economical than the 3.5 V6 petrol lump in the Murano, obviously won’t be as quick off the mark but as it’s for my wife she won’t be bothered by performance, all I know is she likes her 4x4/suv cars as she feels safe in them, I hope she likes it anyway coz I’ve not told her I’ve bought it yet and the first she will know is when I arrive back home in it from work on Saturday morning (I’ve bought the car from Newbury so am collecting it tomorrow and leaving it in oxford for when I finish work there on Saturday) The Murano is up on eBay for £750 spares or repair, my mechanic Who has done the work on it for the last 4 years said he will give me £500 for it as he likes it and fancies a ‘toy’ so if it doesn’t go on eBay it’s got a home
  20. Some from last night, Ferme park to Cambridge and back to Acton then Ferme park Azumas 37057 pushing Cambridge South acton and back into Ferme park I Think it’s shoeburyness and Watford tonight, not looked yet!
  21. Nice week off work last week, went into Manchester last night to see back to the future the musical which was absolutely brilliant, had to walk back to the car past the old goods depot on deansgate And also walked past the old midland hotel which has some lovely stonework back to work Tuesday, working out of london again on IM, out of Ferme park this time though, going to shoeburyness, Cambridge, Watford via the DC lines and oxford amongst other places
  22. the corsa? van is a ‘jarvis’ vehicle ill hazard a guess at the other one being an escort estate, also used by jarvis
  23. Changed the headlights on the cooper today, xenon lights with LED side lights and halo rings (when I wire them up to a continuous feed) got a full stainless exhaust to go on later in the month too, I’ve already got a stainless system on it but it’s a budget system, the one I got is a Complete milltek system, Used eBay bargain at £250, new it cost £550 so more than happy with that as well as that I’ve got a 15% pulley to fit in place of the 11% one and a set of uprated injectors, possibly a sport manifold and cat too, with a proper map tune it should put out around 240 bhp (and that’s where I stop engine wise I recon!)
