  1. I’d say the minor dusting is enough, It’s rarely gets really dirty....
  2. Phone went 11 o clock this morning, GBRF control.... “just checking your on duty” “yeah I’m spare today” ”erm no your relieving 7G62 in rugby at 12:20” ”oh ****, I’m on my way!” thankfully it was running 20 minutes late then wa edit her delayed by another 30 by the time it got to rugby so I managed to get there 20 minutes before it arrived (even had time to stop for petrol!) 66740, Sarah, with 2 self propelled cranes (hence the class 7 45mph running), a train of falcons and another dead 66 on the rear Was booked to sit in Whitaker loop for 4 hours due to a possession but it was lifted early so I got it into bescot 4 hours early, dashed for the train back to rugby for my car hence no more pics!
  3. I revisited my power line adapters the other week and have got them to work from the house to the garage without issue, I was getting 0.5 Mbps on WiFi in there, I’m now getting 20mbps wired so the Xbox in there is working spot on now
  4. Same again today, only 2 pics though, both of 47s crewe to landore, ATW mk3s and a pair of 47s heading back to Leicester from derby
  5. Some from yesterday, landor st to mountsorrel and back, thankfully with a loco with good air conditioning! 66759 ’’chippy” arriving with a 350 heading to new st above and after loading in mountsorrel 2 hours to wait until departure time took some pics out of the side window, the iPhone allows you to take a burst of pics and choose the best from them, these pics are pretty good considering the trains on the fast lines are passing at 110mph! note the midland mainline logo on the coupler door! local service on the slow line Ews 66 arriving in for loading same again tomorrow
  6. it has been addressed on numerous occasions and it’s a software tweak to add the extra options but like most things railway related, no one wants to do it or be responsible for it, the reason given being it’s a still effectively a test system that is working as it should so why mess with it if you are just dragging say a single tamper then you put in a light engine code, I suppose you could put in a light engine code for a 3 or 4 coach IM train but you would have to be very on the ball with the brake to not be caught out by the ‘hook’ I believe the unit version does give you the option of number of coaches to give you a different brake curve, pretty much the same as (chiltern) ATP which gives adjusts the brake curve and if you have an isolated vehicle a slower top speed
  7. Reminds me of an old episode of ‘married with children’ when a woman in the shoe shop says to Al Bundy during an argument..... “How dare you say that behind my back” to which he replies “well I’d say it to your face but my car only has half a tank of gas”
  8. Some from today, bescot to toton tripper 66708 ‘Jayne’ in Bescot with a train of points carriers and side tippers and into toton TPE 68 on a train of lobsters bound for crewe iirc And back in Bescot, uncoupled and run back along an empty road mountsorrel tomorrow
  9. 2 years since I have done ERTMS and it’s still a mind boggler, I can’t even remember what PS mode is! before I go anywhere near the Cambrian again I’m going to have to do a full refresh, I have had an interview at GB regarding refreshing and training on ERTMS again but away from the Cambrian with an updated in cab system on one of our locos but I’ve not heard anything back about it (this thread has reminded me to Chase it up!)
  10. Hale and pace are so under rated, who can forget billy and Johnny in hospital
  11. I can honestly say “not a clue” You do I put individual data specific to the train but it’s in code form, ie there is a code for light engine 97, a code for loco hauled Trains, a code for 158 units etc the down side is the loco hauled code for example assumes you have 12 coaches behind you and adjusts the brake curve accordingly so if you have 4 coaches it will force you to brake earlier thinking you have 12 coaches behind, similarly coming off speed restrictions the system counts the invisible coaches before it lets you speed back up
  12. The first question could have a one line answer or a 10 page answer! easiest way of putting it, you can’t get the brake to pump up without putting the correct info into the computer! as for the 2nd bit, not a clue what your in about, what context have you heard the phrase?
  13. Definitely going to order the latest version, I’ve never driven Caroline but have moved it around the yard at derby quite a few times with 08417 amongst other locos!
  14. I was converting some 12” singles to MP3 yesterday, all 90s dance tunes I used to have ‘back in the day’ that I’ve never managed to replace until now, of course going digital for my DJing means I need them on MP3 so as it’s a long drawn out task I Decided to make a start today whay I did find it that songs I thought were really good back in the mid to late 90s are actually not that good now when listening back and surprisingly vice versa cheesy songs from back then are actually quite catchy W, I ended up getting about 15 records into the stack and actually only converting just over half of them as the rest were so dire, mainly ‘white label mash ups’ the good stuff I converted was surprisingly things like S Club 7, Eiffel 65 mix of ‘reach for the stars’ and Ant and Dec, Tony de vit mix of ‘shout’ which is an absolute banger! More to do tomorrow when I get the time
  15. I stand corrected! (he still doesn’t like modern country though!)
  16. @HonestTom reading your post above it echoes the concerns I put in my original post in this thread at the start of the clapping thing, Will people still clap when they can watch eastenders instead, will all the good feeling end when they have to wait in A+E for 6 hours to see a doctor etc the but in your post that resonates most with me is what you say about the term ‘heroes’, I’m so sick of hearing and seeing the word over the last couple of months, it’s just lost all meaning to me now, and also why very early on I lost respect for the clap for heroes bandwagon, it soon after week one became a clap for everyone who was working event which is a laugh, all I know is I’m the only earner in my home, I had a booked job to do, I came into work, did the job I do every day and went home (just being that extra bit careful not to leave myself open to catching anything) nothing heroic about that at all, I’ve got to live, but now anyone can be a hero if they confront the public, what’s going to happen on the 15th when non essential shops open, are we going to have a clap for model shop heroes, clap for cash converters the list could go on! the one thing that summed up the whole hero thing yesterday was while I was being sick through the combination of tilting and food poisoning on a voyager I went to the loo and the toilet seat had this sticker on it
  17. Just phoned work and today’s job is cancelled both ways, should have been on bescot toton bescot but there is no traffic either way so stay at home with my phone on, result!
  18. my eldest lad who’s 15 is big into country music and I told him about Chris country on the DAB in the car and he informed me that the ‘Chris’ bit is short for ‘Christian’ which I didn’t know he won’t listen to it, not for religious reasons but he despairs of ‘modern country’ and prefers to listen to the likes of Marty robbins, Waylon Jennings, Johnny cash, Ernie ford and Tammy Wynette! The youngest, 10 years old, is into queen, fleetwood mac, ELO, led zeppelin and AC/DC amongst others! I put it down to Spotify, when I was their age you listened to what ever was on the radio or whatever records you bought whereas now they can just play a random playlist of pretty much any genre of music they choose through Alexa which has really broadened their tastes, of course there are also lots of film soundtracks with old tunes too such as guardians of the galaxy which has 70s tunes on so they get an airing too
  19. and my mother’s maiden name is.......
  20. Just a couple from today, been feeling really ill as I got food poisoning Yesterday from an undercooked chicken pie, thankfully the first bit of my job was cancelled at 05:00 so I only had to get to nuneaton for 12:00 to work a train to bescot, thankfully I think I’m over it now! 66740 ‘Sarah’ with 20 auto ballasters 66303 passing through Tame Bridge Parkway with a daventry to Iport train
  21. my wife is Sarah so I can get away with it once!
  22. they should do the ones with women’s names, That way we don’t have to sneak them in the house “look dear this one is called Sarah, I bought it as a reminder of my undying love for you”
  23. straight in touch with aslef, Where there’s blame there’s a claim!
  24. you obviously have nicer neighbours than me, all I got was dirty looks and shaking of heads for not joining in
  25. I know it’s clipped my original quote about it being pointless from your reply above but I glad you quoted it as when I originally posted that comment (And subsequent posts) I had to think long and hard about how I worded the post for worry of being castigated for not joining in because my reasonings behind not joining in may have not be understood or accepted, I’m glad to see I had a few agrees to my post (and again those where i clarified my position) and thankfully here we have on the whole had sensible adult discussion over the matter with no one falling out over it
