  1. My Mini is a later model supercharged one which has Teflon coated blades and is about 10bhp more standard than my early model one that I scrapped last month The old mini had a superchip bluefin fitted and was putting out about 230-240 crank BHP with all the same mods my new one has (my mechanic swapped them off my old car) however on the new one I’ve not bothered with the superchip and I’m going to spend on getting it properly mapped, the only other change I’m going to do is bigger injectors, the map is a by bitronic and will cost me about £480 to be done but will be set up on a rolling road at a mini specialist in Cambridgeshire (1320 mini) and it will custom to my car as opposed to the generic ‘superchip’ which when last dyno’d you could see by the graph it wasn’t getting enough fuel at the top end of the Rev range the chances are the new one will be less BHP than the old one but have more go as it’s going to be fuelling right (with no pops and bangs)
  2. ive just had the cat refitted to my Mini as I couldn’t stand the popping and banging that happened when I fitted a sport manifold that had a decat fitted, (there are pics in the modern classics thread), admittedly it’s not fuelling properly yet, it’s going back to the tuners in the new year for a proper custom remap, it’s currently putting out 195bhp but it should get to about 220-230 when mapped properly with a smaller supercharger pulley fitted
  3. I’ll see what I can do but unfortunately it will be dark by the time we get there
  4. They would have to be very very strong heels
  5. Any thing to remove stiletto heel indents?
  6. Shame today’s job was cancelled, supposed to have ‘evening star’ to move 66793 from longport to hams hall, will have to have an evening in the garage instead! Stone train tomorrow to coton hill in shrewsbury
  7. It’s certainly different that’s for sure
  8. One of my pet hates is the word ‘detailing’ when it comes to washing cars, when you see the lengths some people go to when cleaning cars i have to laugh, mine gets washed at the local hand car wash is its lucky and a muck out once I run out of cup holders!
  9. anyone still looking for the open coach trident trains have a few in stock as of today (sunday), they are shut til wednesday though
  10. Nice little buy it now last night, Bachmann collectors club 03 in WAGN livery, £67
  11. The issue with hiring the bike is his is a 50cc geared bike whereas the hire bikes are 50cc twist and go, their geared bikes are only 125cc, as he’s 16 he can’t ride a 125 TBH, sat here looking at the rain lashing it down I’m glad we cancelled it!
  12. I’ve ended up having to cancel his CBT in the end, had no way of getting the bike the couple of miles to the CBT location in town, couldn’t get it on my trailer, my lad isn’t too bothered as he didn’t particularly want to be out on the bike in the winter anyway, unfortunately the next available date is February so he’ll have to wait until then
  13. There had got to be more wheels on it than that surely?
  14. i drove it last june on its own on a UTU train around the merseyrail network in fact the last couple of times i had it it was solo
  15. I’m glad it’s started as I was worried about having to drain the tank on it! he’s never driven a motorbike before other than trying this one outside the house and this one has gears which in hindsight we should have got a twist and go as he’s panicking about Sunday, worried he may not control it, I’m no help as I’ve never driven a motorbike before either, I’m trying to reassure him he’ll be ok and he will be taught it on Sunday but he’s getting worked up, especially when he asked if I would pick him up afterwards and the CBT school said ‘you can ride home’ the only thing I think he’s going to struggle with is the choke, takes some getting used to to keep it running
  16. Typical, ask for advice and go outside for one last attempt and the damn thing started! Took a bit for it to run smoothly but it’s ticking over nicely now so hopefully giving it a start again tomorrow and Saturday should see him good for Sunday
  17. My lad has a generic Chinese 50cc motorbike that we have had sat undercover for a couple of months inactive due to lockdown he has his CBT on Sunday and I’ve come to start it up but not having much joy, it turns over but won’t fire up, well I say won’t fire I did get it to fire up earlier and run for about a minute then it cut out and won’t restart, just turns over again, it has a manual choke which was fully open when it fired up (and shut down) trying to restart it with the choke open or closed makes no difference, The throttle is also closed when attempting to start I’ve got the fuel taps in the right place and there is fuel in the tank, I had the plug out last night and it was wet with fuel (maybe over wet) and I checked it was sparking ok which it is with a strong spark, have I flooded it maybe, if so how do I go about rectifying it or indeed know if it’s flooded? Any help would be appreciated as I need it to be working properly for Sunday!
