  1. Didn't see it, but perhaps you should be glad that there wasn't a photo of The Great Leader, clutching a pint and grimacing like a Great White Shark, bracketed by the slogans...
  2. If you need a wired handset to tide you over, the cheapest wired phone in Argos is 15 quid, though you might be lucky and your local branch may have the clearance Binatones for 8 or 9 quid.
  3. See my original post update!
  4. It reminds me of the ugly slugs that Ribble used to operate. Obviously not them if the blind mentions Derby!
  5. My Android phone has a setting that basically makes a VOIP connection, if the cell connection is dodgy or missing. I'm not familiar with iPhones or their settings, yours might have something similar and its worth having a rootle around to get things working again... Its called "Wi-Fi Calling". I mentioned iPhones because I seem to recall that you mentioned using one. Google lPhone wi-fi calling for more info.
  6. The "Express Passenger" headcode is pushing it a bit, though it might be heading a breakdown train (odder things have happened...). I doubt that its a "Snow Plough on the way to a job"...
  7. Like this? 🤔 Liverpool Central (High Level) http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/l/liverpool_central_hl/index100.shtml 7th pic down: "A Class 108 Derby Built DMU arrives at Liverpool Central from Gateacre in 1971. By this time the station only had one platform still in use."...
  8. @grandadbob I know what you mean about locoholicism. I've been good this month, after treating myself to several personal birthday presents* last month... 🙂 * No one was going to buy them FOR me!
  9. Now show me where the man in the white coat put his stethoscope...
  10. Very curious arithmetic..... 🤔 You obviously haven't been attending @Coombe Bartons lectures... 🤪
  11. Why Does It Always Rain On Me - Travis
  12. I used to go to school on a bus like that, when they were new...
  13. Then there's the problem of the NHS buying in extra capacity for ops, etc, from the private sector. The private sector being staffed by many NHS doctors working part time in both spheres....
  14. Its reminding me more of when the Bala Lake narrow gauge railway was laid on the old GWR trackbed...

Got my copy now. Good rainy day* reading material! * ie today...
  16. Rails also have Dapol 14xx locos for £125... Much nicer than a Jinty! (Hat, coat, etc...)
  17. I've a dish on the side of the house but I don't have Sky or Freesat. The dish was there when I moved in, and I've never found the other end of the cable that comes into the house!
  18. Not for much longer...
  19. But sometimes you get this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-67124988 Buses IN cafes. There's a video on how to turn your bus into a cafe on youtube apologies if it or its subject has been posted earlier! Now I can't get the song for "Summer Holiday" out of my mind...
  20. Can The Can - Suzi Quatro
  21. Having been following the thread about remotoring a Class 50 with steam turbines I looked at the first picture and thought it was a similar effort involving solar power, those large black sunshades look like solar panels... Then I realised it was a drinking den for sports spectators. Those steps are going to be difficult for drunks! The operators will have to keep a squad of bouncers to tidy them away when the drunks fall down the steps, and to hose away the vomit...
  22. Yes, looks like a F*** Up.
  23. Just think about all those water softening plants, water tanks and water cranes that BR ripped out after steam was abolished. If this takes off, NR will have to reinstate some! Its a trial, proof of concept, whatever you will. Better to try a full scale testbed in an existing loco and suss out the problems, rather than spend even more money on a completely new vehicle. And its better than building a fleet of the things and then finding it won't work. However, even a failure will be an interesting failure!
