  1. Cloudy with sunny spells. When I went out to collect my prescription for the next 8 weeks, it was 15c. The roads were relatively quiet, no lemmings in evidence, I think the local school must be posing as a polling station today! More worrying is that there is an ambulance outside a house on the opposite side of the road.
  2. Sir! Sir! Please Sir! Its a self-centering drive coupling!
  3. I Want To Be With You - Dusty Springfield
  4. Reminds me of 70s MFI flatpack furniture.
  5. Hurrah! The polling stations have opened! The BBC are now reduced to publishing photos of dogs waiting outside polling stations and leading politicians entering or leaving polling stations, until 10pm. I hope said politicians remember their photo ids....
  6. Though as Churchill served as Prime Minister to Her Late Majesty early in her reign, it could be that she remembered Churchill misquoting himself!
  7. I've a 500ml bottle of Aldi own brand fizzy spring water here that doesn't have a bar code at all, though it does say it was bottled at a spring in Staffordshire. 🤔
  8. Blues In The Night - Ella Fitzgerald
  9. Hippos are fitted with a pusher propellor, they just have to rotate it faster than a twirl...
  10. I must say that the BBC North West news did say he was Manx, which showed some attention to detail seeing that Fraggle Rock is in their catchment area.
  11. Lovely photo! As for the camera, the Argus C3 "Brick" is one of the heaviest cameras I've ever owned, and that's comparing it with an MPP Mk VIII field camera. I don't envy your dad lugging it about! Here's a good set of pics of the camera itself https://shotonfilm.wordpress.com/the-cameras-2/argus-c3-the-brick/ * For interest, the MPP Mk VIII http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/M.P.P._Micro_Technical_Mark_VIII
  12. I remember when the BBC psephologist used to illustrate swings by pushing a large cardboard pointer to left or right. The good old black and white telly days when things were simpler.....
  13. Dinky used to do a model (492) called "The Election Candidate", consisting of a Mini van with a double horn speaker on the roof and "Vote For Somebody!" posters on the side, accompanied by a bloke in a sheepskin coat holding a microphone. Doorstepping and loud shouting is probably not considered an effective tactic nowadays. Oh well, I posted my vote off last week, so thats when the election finished for me. I won't follow the vote on Thursday evening after the polls close, but if I do wake in the middle of the night I'll pop the tv on* to see how things are going... * Or indeed grab this tablet and have a look at the BBC website.

  23. ER's will no doubt be pleased to know that Letby has been found guilty of trying to kill the child that the original jury couldn't agree on. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c98q74dn91do She will be sentenced for the attempted murder of Baby K on 5 July.
  24. Doing some junk sorting - big box full of stuff that was put aside for later, "just in case". Later has arrived and its being triaged into immediate use, keep for later "just in case" and chuck. The chuck pile isn't big enough at the moment... Anyhow, one of the things found was a piece of card clipped from the back of a packet of WH Smith Typing Paper, containing all sorts of info on how to produce an effective typed letter. Headings include: Use of Capital Letters Taking Copies (Carbon paper) Formatting a letter Complimentary Closure (faithfully/sincerely) Folding a letter into an envelope Typing a report I will be keeping* it... Next, "Cokin Creative Filter System" booklet. Keep? Chuck? 🤔 * I still have three working typewriters**... ** I'm not a hoarder. Honest!
