    EBay madness

Another of his is a hoot too. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166868468682 A Lone Star OOOLectric loco If we look at the underneath shot you can see that none of the drivebelts are present, so it won't move at all! I'm surprised that the wheels are still present, they fall out without the belts.... I wonder if the wiring to the bogie frames is still present. Also, its not original condition, Lone Star didn't do Full Yellow Ends, they were all Green, the bits on the roof have been blobbed with black too.
  2. You'll soon find that its impossible to differentiate between Saturday and Sunday..... The RVW Fantasia is a beautiful piece of music, one of my all time favourites.

  5. Well the real WK is multiple units all the way, currently Class 777 EMUs, so the DMUs won't look completely out of place! However blue-grey livery EMUs would have to be 503s... Of course, on Merseyrail, DMUs did get as far as Bidston (for Wrexham) and Rock Ferry (for Chester) ! Thinking of an alternative history, if the Birkenhead to West Kirby and to New Brighton has not been electrified by the LMS in the 30s, and the line escaped being Beechinged, then DMUs may well have worked into Birkenhead Park from WK and NB to interchange with the Mersey EMUs. There might have been some use for Class 73s to do the whole WK/NB to Liverpool run, changing from diesel power at Park to run under the Mersey on electric power. At one point Merseyrail had some 73s, on Sandite duties, I believe...
  6. Rails of Sheffield have Heljan OO gauge green Class 17s for £114.50, and a blue one for £119.50. https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/oo-gauge-bargains?q=Heljan class 17
  7. Slightly more amusing than any "reality" programmes currently being shown, or celeb travelogues, or quiz shows that rely on an unusual mechanism to tease the participants. Though that clip was more than unusually sexist in the range of responses to "model railways". Most programmes are there to fill up the schedule.

Oh yes, a Bachman starter set loco. I'm not fond of that 0-6-0 chassis, I had the steam outline ones, one a blue ex-Thomas and a red one, DCC fitted, that ran very poorly.
  17. The number was definitely a multiplier - 2 was a sort of average, but some people would make you think of three or more...
  18. I'm surprised that no one has contributed "they're as thick as two short planks"...
  19. Just an ordinary valve radio inside, the gas bit was an add on device which would probably have set the wooden case on fire! Valve radios were hot inside at the best of times...
  20. A very grauniad article, but I read it all the way through and found some interesting points, though it did tend to harp on the extremes to make its point.
