    EBay madness

Before listing it, the vendor patted it and went flying across the room.... Even if "rewired", I wouldn't want to put the mains anywhere near it!
  2. Never be in an enclosed space with anyone who has consumed pickled eggs and sprouts the previous day... Even if you survived the gassing, your clothes would be permeated by the effluvium for the rest of the day, and everyone will think it was YOU!!!
  3. Good Lord! Those look like they HAVE been on the boil since September! 🤢🤮
  4. My father belonged to the Tate & Lyle pension scheme. When he first retired, every Christmas he was sent a "hamper", a large cardbox box, full of goodies which were reasonably useful at first. As the years passed, the box got smaller, the contents fewer and the number of T&L products (especially those which seemed to be trial products) increased. Eventually the hampers stopped and were replaced by the mawkish Christmas Card from the Group Pension Trustees which used to be included in the hamper... More Bah...
  5. The BR Green example should have been offered as "weathered", it looks so bright and clean!
  6. But When will it appear? Whats the price been increased to?
  7. That used to mean that there was no loft insulation and the householder would be pestered by dodgy home improvement salespersons. When its not been snowing the rozzers look for pigeons warming their bums all along the roof... Honest guv! 🤪
  8. The info should be on the council website... 🤪
  9. Sounds like predators trailing a herd of "food", waiting to pounce on the weak or elderly...
  10. I hoped there would be a more interesting Hornby announcement than the Collectors Club 2MT.

Stick a Hornby TXS sound decoder in a basic 59 and load the 66 soundfile. Should be close enough... 🙂
  12. Burn brightly, before either exploding or collapsing in on yourself?
  13. All that can be said is "Dottigham"... Get well soon!

Hattons also had the DCC/Smoke version for just over the ton, but they've all gone now..
  15. Speaking of jumping the gun re: Christmas, Classic FM just played "Silent Night", which is just TOO EARLY!!! Its now got me thinking about my ritual Christmas reading. I'll have to locate my copies of "Hogfather" and "A Christmas Carol" in preparation*... BAH...... I suppose I should add "A Happy Warley", to one and all attending! * Located both. I have a schedule for "A Christmas Carol"... Stave 1: Marley's Ghost. Evening, 21st December Stave 2: The First of the Three Spirits. Evening, 22nd December Stave 3: The Second of the Three Spirits. Evening, 23rd December Stave 4: The Third of the Three Spirits. Evening, Christmas Eve Stave 5: The End of It Christmas Morning
  16. In my opinion, putting things up in the first two weeks of December is suspect too. Around here, the external decorations are spreading like an unsightly rash... I thought we were talking about domestic culinary appliances? That sounds a bit "undomesticated"!
  17. Every home should have one! You could plant it out in the front garden in the New Year too...
  18. I think many of us here can identify with that...
  19. Probably not Senior Service...
  20. Radio stations are getting jittery too. Yesterday Classic FM played "In the Bleak Midwinter". Obviously softening listeners up for a week today when they'll go all Christmas Music... A bit more restrained than the telly. The Digital channels in the far reaches of the listings have been purveying "Christmas Films" since September, and now Ch5 is filling its afternoon schedule with similar dross. Bring on Slade!!!
  21. My parents was younger than that, the quality of the timer may have been affected by production "cost-cutting" that increased the failure rate.
  22. I've a Dualit wide 3 slot toaster, it live in its box under the stairs, it's never been out, it's never been used. I use an Argos Cookworks, their cheapest available when bought. The problem with the classic cast aluminium and stainless steel Dualit toaster is that the brown-ness of a slice is regulated using a clockwork timer which breaks easily and is relatively expensive (as much as a cheapo toaster!) to replace! My parents originally had a 2 slice Dualit, and I replaced the timer twice before they gave up and got an ordinary toaster (although my mother had bought the 3 slot beforehand). But they look cool!
  23. Only if you want an archetypical diesel box on rails...
