  1. I think Hornby tried a high intensity headlight in the middle of the smokebox door on a Hogwarts Express loco a while ago. 🤔
  2. @New Haven Neil "WET BELT"??? Didn't realise that Bulleid worked for Ford too...
  3. Then Santa got to the section detailing the downsizing measures...
  4. Thats not where the fist goes...
  5. With a basic non-"smart" phone, quite a long time on standby, even longer switched off. If you do have a "smart" phone, then reasonably long if you don't cruise the internet, etc and again longer if its switched off. If its an emergencies only phone there's no reason to leave it on if you don't currently need it!
  6. When I was "upgraded" to VOIP by BT this time last year, there was some sort of scheme to provide a subsidised small UPS to customers considered vulnerable. I don't know if this is still available but it only provided backup power for about 4 hours, which would mean that if power died overnight, your VOIP connection would be equally dead by the morning...
  7. On a dank, cold day, the postman rang my doorbell. Opening the parcel he handed me, I discovered my black liveried Victory! What a lovely engine. If you're still "thinking" get one!
  8. Ah! The Majesty of the Law! Baseball caps don't seem to cut the mustard in comparison...

Looks more like you just slapped the box! Seriously, Hattons seem to be changing their packaging from conventional boxes to wrap-around card containers, which don't seem to have the same structural integrity. Marking the container "Impactprotection" also seems to be an invitation to abuse!
  10. I see a collection of scrap won the Turner Prize. Anyone had a go at reading the Booker Prize winner yet?
  11. It'll probably then explode, showering the district with charred and urecognisable fragments! As for the tiny fencing, how about suggesting it's there with a 2mm strip* of thin transparent plastic with the uprights inked in with a very fine fineliner? * Only a little bigger than 1.3mm and slightly easier to cut without it turning into a curly thing....
  12. Thats ok, I'm not "following" the SM competitions either. I'll just be noting any of the website stuff. At least that is just feeding Hornby your name and email details to enter, info they probably already have!
  13. Will you do a special section on his method of "revitalising" X04 motors using a Dremel fitted with a wire brush?
  14. How long to cook a large, frozen turkey?

You don't hunt 'em, you twap 'em....
  16. Perhaps if a number of hopeful "winners" did that they would get their collective @rses into gear!
  17. I thought French farmers were still adherents to "the Spirit of '89"?
  18. Day 3: Hobby Reward Points Giveaway Result? Well, like the lottery, it wasn't me! Funny thing is, although the name of the 10,000 Hobbypoints winner was announced, with an invitation to contact Hornby*, the two winners of the 5,000 points were not named, so how are they to know that they have to contact Hornby to get their points? Looks like a complete lack of organisation to me... * "Winning participants please contact marketing@Hornby.com to claim your prize."
  19. Not just that, but they might be struck off for dipping their hand in a clients funds. If you've not been paying attention, it might be time consuming to locate where your documents have been transferred to if you're around to do so, and an embuggerance if you're not...

With some food, its essential to use the fork and knife in tandem to pin the food down as you cut, though not necessarily to stop it escaping...
  21. I believe that in one case, fisticuffs took place between the boyfriend of the leading "lady" and the leading "man", on the first night of the production...
  22. Thats for when you have a near miss from an Audi or BMW...
  23. I believe that long after I left, the school entered into a reciprocal agreement with the girls grammar school for casting productions. Of course, this brought its own nest of problems...
  24. When I was there, my senior school would not consider anything as modern as South Pacific for a school production. Shakespeare all the way, supporting the current O Level Eng Lit syllabus. Of course, the main problem with plays in an all boys school is casting the feminine parts, which can be tricky, despite boys in female roles being historically valid. Try telling that to a spotty 4th year!
