  1. Christmas wrapping paper is getting thinner... I've a little Yamaha flute like that, but I've never got the hang of the transverse embrochure. Its nice to hear it played properly!
  2. Three minute hero - The Selecter

    EBay madness

I'm surprised it isn't AC... Seriously, wouldn't it be 6 volts to fit in with a 4 cell battery pack? 3 cells would be 4.5 volts but might not give enough OOMPH!
  4. Two wires yes, but they bifurcate a lot!
  5. Interesting, but I don't think I want one. It never escaped from LMS/BR ownership and only worked LMS associated docks. The driver doesn't look impressed with his steed, the shunters don't look happy either. One hopes that the photographers case in the foreground isn't ticking...
  6. Its just the way I've always done it. Audacity also allows the stream to be edited once captured, which can be useful.
  7. But we start the long slow climb back into the light on the 22nd...
  8. Less meat, more rusk*? * Or sawdust...
  9. 7 minutes to Midnight - Wah! Heat
  10. Or even worse, fake stereo! Apart from that, laptops, and newer computers for that matter, can be a challenge to get them to co-operate. For some reason, they try to be difficult to set up for input (that mono sound in socket for example!). Getting Audacity to work around Win 11s little foibles can be a bit time consuming too. I've not tried transferring lp's recently, but I do record streams from BBC Sounds and youtube for later listening on a Dell Inspiron with Win 11. My Audacity is set up with the Audio host as Windows WASAPI, the Recording Device as speakers (loopback), Recording channels 2(stereo) and Playback device (speakers). It works for me....
  11. Rather than covering the LEDs entirely, how about a thin dab of yellow acrylic paint on them to tone down the LED colour and brightness?
  12. More importantly, can't people put their phones AWAY???
  13. Until the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse.
  14. I usually have the Aldi equivalent, they're all much of a muchness, my nearest Lidl is inconveniently situated. As for spuds, I rarely peel them nowadays, just dig out the eyes and scrape out any damaged bits. Peeling only happens if mash is required.
  15. Recuperation, I believe.....
  16. I did warn you... Christmas Cracker jokes go LIVE!!! And the first one is: Which athlete would be the warmest in winter? A long jumper!
  17. Schools around here don't finish until the 22nd either. Teachers and TAs are complaining about insufficient time to do Christmas shopping...
  18. Foil wrapped, ready to cook...
  19. Speaking of sheds, The Star on Sunday has an interesting front page headline... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-67740319 claiming that "One in three will flee relatives for 'Me Time' in the garden". Their headline reads "This Xmas I will mostly be hiding in the shed", illustrated by a distressed bloke in a santa hat... I feel for those that don't have a shed to go to!
  20. Fear not, said they with mighty dread the soap has worn away and we have no more coupons to get some more today (as sung to me by my uncle...) And there's the line in Gabriel's Message that always got converted to "Oh strangely flavoured lady" Dunno what we were thinking of!
  21. All you need is a supine chairperson, who will automatically vote with yourself. (I believe that is the normal position in the world of business) 😉
  22. It was late on Christmas Eve The Bear slept Dreaming of the new Garage and Shed that Santa would bring him. He Awoke, and in the pillowcase at the foot of his bed was.... A tangerine, a lump of coal AND a Dinky Garage!!! A note from Santa said, "If you're a Good Bear throughout the year, you might get a Dinky car to go in your garage. Sorry about the shed...."
