  1. Then there's the problem of Chocolate Brownies...
  2. Its just a Victorian biblical metaphor for the utility of using a processed sweetener instead of rummaging around in a dead lions guts. Golden syrup used to be called industrial honey.
  3. @DaveF Here's a piccy I took of the staircase at Seaton Delaval in 2018.... Its sort of like an ammonite... 🙃
  4. Lovely... I'm a couple of episodes behind, I'll have to catch up!
  5. Thanks for the id, I thought it looked familiar, from a couple of recent holidays in Northumberland. You do realise you'll now need to give us a scene list for the rest of the series... 🤪
  6. A couple of biscuits would be like eating a desert, unless irrigated by a muggatea!
  7. Shut or Shot? Or if it was the septic tank, sh..
  8. And what happens when your septic tank is filled to the brim, and you're down to that tinned Black Forest Gateau you've been putting off opening? As for tinned cake in general, I once had a very nice tinned Dundee cake, infused with MUCH Highland spirits....
  9. A Shannon class is our local "big boat", what scale is the kit?
  10. Thing with Airfix is they've just got to provide the sprues full of parts, no assembly, no painting, adding details, no delicate packaging. Bag the sprues, drop in the printed instructions and put the lid on the box. Job done! Keeping the popular lines stocked up on the shelves is easy. Hornby have a more complicated production process, resulting in an RTR model. As for the B4, I don't think it was ever intended for production and the Nellie, Connie and Polly locos are traversties of the originals. I expect a green no 27 will pop up sooner or later!
  11. Yes. I'm afraid they mentioned they had "many"...
  12. Perhaps with this year, issue 70 and all that, its the end of an era. Just one more catalogue, for old times sake, eh? As for the Engine Shed stream/video, the sound quality was poor and I gave up early on when the bloke on the right waved "Locomotion" about and said something about "the bits on top", though it was interesting to watch the engineering prototype running.
  13. Lets not get into the shed owning debate... 🙃
  14. Theres also the two half-tides to consider.
  15. The 1925 equivalent of tender drive! Of all the items announced today, Locomotion is the only one that has my attention, I may pre-order it. After that, I'll wait and see...
  16. I'm feeling like a vulture, but I've probably just made my last purchases from Hattons. As I said earlier, I wish the company and their staff well in the future.
  17. Mea culpa. I did query it after posting... As for Kevin. If it had been called "Kevin the Killer Spider", the BBC 3 Yoof channel would have been on it like a shot!
  18. Or a dolphin... (Or was that the American rip-off?)
  19. You move out, and the place goes to the dogs.....
  20. And Garibaldi biscuits - those poor compressed squashed flies!

    EBay madness

I know that we've occasionally picked on Hattons second hand offerings, though they've not generated the same amount of fun that we've had with Rails flights of fancy, but today Hattons have announced that they are closing their doors. They've NOT gone bust, but are selling up in an orderly manner. I'm sure we'll miss them, they have has a long history in model railways retail.
  22. Hey ho..... Better go and wash the dishes, then an early night. Because I have an early appointment at the dentists tomorrow...
  23. The place where I get my copies of MRJ keeps them, and all other model mags, on the top shelf.
  24. I was shocked and amazed when I read their email this evening. Over the years I've bought many things from Hattons both new and secondhand. My most recent purchases arrived last Wednesday, and I'll miss browsing their extensive collection of secondhand stock, often finding items that I didn't know I needed. Their closure will leave a big gap in the hobby, I wish all their staff a hopeful future.
