  1. Whats so special about being " first post on page 1000"? 🤪
  2. Brass has a distinctive smell, even when cold.
  3. The facilities to mould plastic*, produce lost wax castings and obtain stainless steel orthodontic wire of various diameters DO come in handy! * Provided you want it in Dental Pink, with little flecks of red embedded in it. Ordinary PoP is much used in dental labs, but the harder "brown" plaster, called "stone" is denser and dimensionally superior, used for the later stages of technical procedures, where you don't want bits being abraded from the model.
  4. One of our teachers would come into the classroom, and, if the odour was particularly ripe, especially during the summer term, loudly announce "GENTLEMEN, YOU SMELL!". Sometimes it worked and the olefactory insult would be reduced for a couple of days...
  5. @Grizz If you cut your soss meat slices into long, thin portions, you'll have... Sossiges! Hope Mrs Grizz continues to improve, to save you from culinary diversions and the Field Ornaments!
  6. When the wind was in the right direction, the large brewery at about a miles distance was quite distinctive! I was a technician at a dental hospital for over 10 years until I made a dramatic career change for health reasons. I became used to the "aroma" and now don't notice that hospital smell at all...

I almost bought it, luckily someone else bagged it, and saved me from another lunatic buy! Anyway it wouldn't go with my brace of O gauge 14xx locos. Or a BLT... Looking at the giant HD couplings on the Hymek, I wonder if that was the inspiration for Lima when they made their foray into O gauge in the early 80s?
  8. Having written exams would probably involve a compulsory 1st year module in remedial handwriting, and the use of the fountain pen... Liked the "organ pipe" bass recorder in the music!
  9. A joke as old as the hills...

And there's no indication about how corroded the battery box is. Perhaps the last batteries are still installed and removing them is a task for the new owner... Anyhow, someones taken its rehabilitation on!
  11. It doesn't specifically mention sh@g-pile carpet, though I suppose 1b covers it, but apart from the odd american sport references, I'd heard of all the other definitions! The ruddy net-nanny has heard of the "British slang" meaning of sh@g!
  12. Same here, but the illustrations on the packaging of "Look what you can do!" were too blobby even for me...
  13. Thats a fair use, they're like a mini glue gun! Aldi and Lidl occasionally had them, but they were at the blobby childrens toy end of the market...
  14. Dr Scholl market them as the "Foot File" https://www.scholl.co.uk/products/expert-care-2-in-1-file-and-smooth-foot-file Imagine all those tiny particles of fine hard skin floating about in the atmosphere....
  15. Amazon sell items akin to a modellers rotary tool for trimming baby nails https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Electric-Trimmer-Battery-Powered/dp/B09NDTRCYD/ref=sr_1_6?crid=3OD9MJQK6O1IY&keywords=baby+nail+trimmer+electric&qid=1706351722&sprefix=baby+nail+trimmer%2Caps%2C68&sr=8-6 They make my flesh creep...
  16. 3D pens are beloved of free-form crafters. They're not what you'd call precise, imagine trying to do things with an icing syringe.
  17. I can set up a model railway in the Glass Shed too! 😄 Sheds are as useful as garages. Of course, I have an ordinary shed too, as well as a garage. Is that your "Little Black Book"? Saunters off, whistling...
  18. She'll probably get out the branch loppers and trim them herself! Where sheds are concerned, there's always more than one! I call the conservatory on the back of the house the "glass shed", if that helps...
  19. I'm sure Mr Hunt will be able to confirm that you won't get off the ground with those wings...
  20. I see it's given the rim a good chewing too See if you can get the cost of a new wheel too.
  21. Are you sure? 🤔 The paragraph quoted sounds like your student confused their submissions, and you got their effort for a "creative writing" course... It seems that the students are coping badly with the material they can't be bothered to concentrate on!
  22. Friends with benefits, I presume...
  23. That was my first thought. but Tony_S beat me to it.... Not heartless or cruel, just hungry!
  24. Perhaps they're in league with the psychotic horses....

Early Triang locos and rolling stock tend to look like that, but in their case its due to the rubbish plastic used back then...
