  4. The photos remind me of those "The xyz Railway Then and Now" books. One I have, of the GCR, is particularly distressing.
  5. No, but I was thinking of making some corned beef hash some time ago, and the price of a can of corned beef put me off the idea!
  6. But don't use the derogatory "H" word that has earned the original "Mary Poppins" a regrading to PG from the original U. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-68402362

    EBay madness

That'll be a lamp converted to dispense fruit?
  9. Just biding its time for a safety car! Apart from that, the "procession" is boringly realistic...
  10. Should have gone to Airbus...
  11. And the chance of badly damaged bombers falling out of the sky when attempting to return to base. Nowadays there'd be forests of those triangular warning signs in line with the end of the runway and the coast, just in case...

    EBay madness

It was probably "ok" when rtr Terriers weren't available, and you didn't mind a missing pair of driving wheels, etc. Here's a possible base loco. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363561671787 And at £44.50 inc postage, thats a bit steep too!
  13. The Last Farewell - Roger Whittaker
  14. Having surfaced, its surprisingly sunny out, though cool with a bit of a breeze. But I've a cough, a runny nose and a soreish throat so I'm a bit under the weather. Never mind, musn't grumble!
  15. But there is! https://shedswigan.co.uk/ 🤪🤪🤪🤪 Being Wigan, perhaps they offer as much free tripe as you can consume? (With the infamous Orwell black thumbprint in the corner of each piece...)
  16. Thats a cute little Poppy dog! A lovely selection of music for a great consort of recorders. The first and the last pieces were by Holborne (ie, I recognised them!), the piece starting at 1:13 and that for 8' recorders, starting at 2:24 are by Brade. I did a couple of Early Music performance courses at Liverpool University School of Extension Studies in the early 80s. The elementary and intermediate students played Susato and other fairly easy consort music, the more adept ones had a go at Brade, which was rather tougher...
  17. Mars bars are accelerated in one direction and collided with thick batter accelerated from the other direction, in the presence of superheated oil....
  18. All I can say is that I had bacon butties (note the plural) for brekky this morning.... I'll aso admit that I didn't fancy much for lunch!
  19. That makes it sound like an EE Type 3 starting from cold...
  20. I now understand exactly why my parents didn't buy one all those years ago! I didn't even like it when I read about it in my "Ladybird Book of Cars"! The demonstrator looked ok, even though she managed to mangle the cars name...
  21. It'll have the same scale/gauge imbalance as British OO does if it runs on 16.5mm track. Russian railways are a bit "broader" than Standard Gauge...
  22. You have to wear gloves to operate the things? And I thought shiftless was the definition of a Renault Dauphine...
  23. Its a pity that it wasn't an ESA project managed by the Italians. It could then be called "The Leaning Lander of Pisa"...
  24. No, that's the equivalent of a 60s radical getting their first copy of Maos Little Red Book....
