  1. Just a few pics for now , will try and give a description of the layout at sometime, basically it's a working wagon tippler with a working traverser at the end to move the empties across to the other line
  2. This is my wagon tippler, a oo working model of a strachen and henshaw type, all handbuilt , operated by a geared motor underneath pulling a thin cord to pull it upwards. The cosmetic gears on the model is a belt from an old printer.anymore questions just ask!
  3. All along the watchtower by Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush (live version) Pure class !
  4. Driver of the 08 walks back to the loco , the shunter must be on break

Another one of my experiments. These O gauge working figures are pride of place on the dining table, use them to put the sugar in my tea and stir it

    Dapol 08

Dapol don't send this picture to China , they may just do it , it bid you farewell !

    Dapol 08

So Dapol got it completely wrong it should be completely yellow , at least they got the radiator colour correct!

    Dapol 08

My point is if the roof was blue to begin with then there would be no issue,or if the lighting trunking was as the position the majority of the class had again no issue, I would have been the first to congratulate Dapol for there effort if not for these errors

    Dapol 08

Can you spot the difference, one of these is Dapol's The other is handmade ,my point being that one of them looks nothing like a coil, having seen posts about the communication problems or misinterpretation of either liveries or cad drawings with dealing with manufacturing in China, I don't think even China could get a coil wrong seems they are one of the top steel producers , so the blame must surely be with the likes of Dapol, Heljan , Bachmann , Hornby etc... for supplying the information about the models in the first place.

    Dapol 08

If they painted the 08 all over blue in the first instance , then no one would be complaining or debating the issue , then if you searched the internet and found a class 08 with a black roof you could paint it yourself ! This applies to the trunking for the lights. As the MAJORITY of the class don't have black roofs why do it.

    Dapol 08

Just to add that there is another mistake in the new class 08, ok not major , but yet again highlights the lack of research, the trunking for the cab lights comes straight down and meets between the two lights on the right , not as Dapol have it , dont know how they came to this conclusion. i have highlighted the correct route in the pic

    Dapol 08

Seems there are too many people who are willing to support Dapol , with all the errors that have occurred on so many of their models, rather than stand up and say it's wrong , don't defend them , they made the errors! It's not just the class 08. The list goes on , the MBA, Class 73, ......if I myself can scratchbuild a wagon and paint it the right colour then someone with far more resources , time and money can surely get it correct, don't they look at pre production models and think something doesn't look right, obviously not

    Dapol 08

I think if you asked a three year old to paint a blue class 08 it would be blue ! not with a black roof , errors like these and the class 73 are bizarre, if i can buy a tin of blue paint from various sources, it cannot be that difficult for a major firm like Dapol to do it , how does a Loadhaul 60 end up with livery errors , its prob because they dont seem to take time and effort or poss care, get it to the shops and it will sell attitude. In this day and age of the internet there are thousands of pictures of class 08's for them to look at and check against or maybe Dapol just pluck liveries out of thin air and think the public will accept them.

  17. hi all, The platform fitted POA were TRL 5143 - TRL 5151 built on former ferry tanks in 1985 , saw them at seven tunnel junction back in the 80's then working from Nortons scrapyard at Bilston to ASW Cardiff and possibly from Parry Metals at Brentford IIRC. The other POA that carried scrap were TRL 5170 - TRL 5181 that worked from BSC Shotton to BSC Ravenscraig / BSC Port Talbot with baled scrap, TRL 5181 was in yellow livery and i think TRL 5175 was in light blue and originally fitted with some sort of roof / tarpaulin The other batch was TRL 5254 - TRL 5266 again working out of Shotton, Baz
