  1. Looking really good Martyn - the AM3 is a difficult unit to get right I think, I have seen some efforts in the past where it is clearly an Am3, but somehow it just doesn't look quite right. Jim
  2. The Happiest Days Of Our Lives - Pink Floyd

  4. Martyn - Have a look at this page from "Hidden Glasgow" - http://www.hiddenglasgow.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2761 towards the bottom of the page there are screen grabs from a BTF film, some good detail of AM3s Jim
  5. I know that I am getting waaaay ahead here, but if you were ever going to desecrate what is already looking like an excellent model by weathering it, the AM3s (lets use the correct classification for the era) suffered from an unusual and I think unique weathering, - the body sides would get a covering of a horrible dirty yellow film which used to obscure the windows! The cause of this was traced to a combination of the chemicals used in the carriage washer at Bridgeton and the dust that was generated from the brake shoes fitted to the units, apparently it was very difficult to remove once it formed but this lasted for a few years around the late 1960s/early 1970s. Jim
  6. Jim Dandy to the Rescue - Black Oak Arkansas

  9. So, any Sutton United supporters on here, my club Airdrie have been drawn against them in this new format Irn Bru Cup, are they any good?? Jim
  10. I think in some of the posts above the statement in the link has been incorrectly interpreted The statement applying to the general public (i.e. not postal workers) is as follows... Interfering with the mail: general. (3) A person commits an offence if, intending to act to a person’s detriment and without reasonable excuse, he opens a postal packet which he knows or reasonably suspects has been incorrectly delivered to him. So simply opening a letter to find out what it is about is not an offence, it would have to be proved that you acted on the information in the letter "to a persons detriment". Jim

  12. Would 61264 and 61306 simultaneously renumbered as 61018 count as the same?
  13. At the moment it is within my main "Gateside and Northbridge" thread, as the inglenook plank will be part of the "big" layout when at home, but I am hoping to be able to make the plank a module which will then sit in a separate small mobile layout. Jim
  14. Just a thought - why a West Highland terminus, if you have a look elsewhere there were excellent examples of terminus stations on the East coast, such as Fraserburgh and Peterhead https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=16&lat=57.6897&lon=-2.0015&layers=170&right=BingHyb https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=17&lat=57.5098&lon=-1.7890&layers=170&right=BingHyb Jim
  15. Glad to see the thread us still going, I am building an Inglenook called "Allenshaw" for which a lot of inspiration has come from this thread. Jim
  16. Wondering if Model Rail Scotland 2019 might be the launch platform for this loco.
  17. My first thought was - when did they start driving on the right in Birmingham? But it is probably one of these convoluted road systems commonly found around there
