  1. I remember the great Dave Allen telling a great Irish Leprechaun joke Paddy catches a Leprechaun and asks him for his pot of gold The Leprechaun replies, "I don't have a pot of gold, but I can grant three wishes" "..but there is a catch, whatever you wish for, your worst enemy will get twice what you ask for" So Paddy thinks and asks for a big mansion with 20 rooms - with a flash the mansion appears, but next door, his arch enemy Murphy finds a 40 room mansion appear on his land. Murphy is delighted and taunts Paddy about his good fortune! Paddy then asks the Leprechaun for a beautiful woman to be in each bedroom that will do anything that he wishes, another flash and the women appear at each window of the mansion, each more gorgeous than he could have hoped. Murphy is ecstatic to see two beautiful women appear at each window, calling to him to come to them. The Leprechaun then urges Paddy to tell him his third wish as he wants to get on his way, Murphy is yelling all sorts of suggestions, knowing he will get twice as much And Paddy finally says - "I want my desire for Women cut by half"
  2. I have been binge watching "Designated Survivor" on Netflix, Finished series 1 and it was not a bad story, not sure if the rest will be as good though as ABC cancelled the programme after the end of series 2 but Netflix bought the rights and made a series 3. Jim
  3. Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast - Pink Floyd
  4. My wife told me to go to the chemists and get something to help my "disfunction" in the bedroom You should have seen her face when I came back and tossed her some diet pills I’m still looking for a place to live ....
  5. Must buy the wife one, I wonder if they do Freightliner "Heavy Haul" livery.
  6. Hats Off To (Roy) Harper - Led Zeppelin
  7. In all seriousness, I once passed a complaint to a supplier in China regarding the standard of paint finish on castings that were supplied to us. We used a standard CAPA form (Corrective and Preventive actions) and under corrective actions the supplier wrote.... We have executed the operator that painted these castings! We always got very good paint finish thereafter, but I never had the nerve to check if there had been a translation mistake or not! Jim
  8. For many, Stairway to Heaven is a standard that should never be touched by anyone except Led Zeppelin, (even though Spirit guitarist Randy California claims STH is itself a cover of his own "Taurus"). Wikipedia lists some 30 cover versions featuring the good the bad and the horrible but there is one which I really like and would described as a "re-imagined" version, that being the version recorded by Far Corporation, which I believe was also given the thumbs up by Robert Plant.
  9. The Blue - David Gilmour (featuring one of the best ever guitar solos IMHO)
  10. Can I get into the closet with Anne Diamond?
  11. Interesting that you should mention Wyoming amid the Flat Earth discussion, I was reading this article where one guy is suggesting that there are no forests on a flat earth, but best of all some other wizards are suggesting that the mountains were once gigantic trees and that Devils Tower (Close Encounters) is actually a mammoth tree stump - read here if you must https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2016/09/flat-earth-truthers/499322/
  12. Great Photos as usual Dave - I would question the last working as it is a down train approaching Carlisle from the south, the presence of the GUVs suggest a Motorail working which could be Glasgow Central bound. Edit - or perhaps the Clansman? Jim
  13. There was some discussion about this legendary layout in this thread back in 2012 Linky suggesting that St Enoch had survived in a barn and Elderslie was stored at Paisley Museum. It is a pity that there does not seem to be any comprehensive photographic record of this magnum opus! I would doubt if Elderslie survives as museum curators do not seem to have much fondness for model railways - remember the beautiful rendition of Carlisle Citadel that was in the original Glasgow Transport Museum, never became part of their plans for later premises. Jim
  14. Bring the Boys Back Home - Pink Floyd
  15. Export them to Iran? Oh wait, they have scrapped the ones we sent last time, and maybe that is why Iran doesn't like us in the west.
  16. Debenhams (and others) have been getting away with similar for years, sale notices always announce up to 70% off Jim
  17. But the early concept of the Borg was altered with the introduction to the fiction of the Borg Queen as the leader of the hive.
  18. Nobody nominated the original and best - Majel Barrett yet?
  19. Now if there had just been a class 141 passing underneath.....
