OK after all of these jokes that need a working knowledge of Yorkshire accents, here is one that would definitely only be understood by residents of Glasgow! Wifie 1 - looking in the Window of a Bakers in downtown Govan: "Is that a cream slice in the windae or a Meringue?" Wifie 2: "Naw yer right enough" Jim

Class 03 runners on the Mainline?
luckymucklebackit replied to b*ggeredupclass03's topic in UK Prototype Questions
Was the addition of a runner wagon unique to class 03s? There were a number of locations in Scotland where class 06s ventured out onto a track circuited main line, but I have never seen one of them with a runner wagon. Jim -
There was a recent discussion on another forum regarding the use of headcodes in Scotland in general and there was a consensus that the Scottish Region were not particularly bothered abut using them, most internal passenger trains would have "1" showing in the box and nothing else, only inter regional services would show the full four digit train description. With that said, I asked why in 1965 the Haymarket based locomotives D260–D266 were converted from end doors and lamps/discs to a four digit headcode box when they tended to be used on internal services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, while the remainder of that batch on other regions that were more structured in their use of headcodes didn't bother converting any other members of the D200–D324 batch? The reason for the conversion seems to have been lost in history but just thought I would ask on here to see if anyone knew. Cheers Jim

Then an now maps you would be hard pushed to find any trace of the station now. Always had a chuckle at the old name for the town's remaining station, now just known as "Fairlie", but used to be known as "Fairlie High" which it was I suppose Jim -

Have you counted the rivets round the outside of the penny to make sure they are correct?

British coal will no longer be available
luckymucklebackit replied to muddy water's topic in Preservation
Here is a radical idea, lets complete the heritage process and actually dig the coal for the locomotives in the traditional manner, we have volunteer drivers, firemen and cleaners so why not have volunteer miners! Must be done using picks, shovels and sheer hard graft! Fancy going down the Big Pit National Coal Museum and actually digging coal, no? Didn't think so! -

What worries me is that there could be a second trilogy - "The Virus Re-Awakens", "The Last Vaccine" and "The Rise of the Machines", Oh, Wait that last one is not part of the sequence, however in 2021 who the hell knows! Jim

It's really simple, the spread of COVID-19 is down to two factors, How dense the population is, & How dense the population is Jim

So ... the Spaniards are logging those who decline the vaccine
luckymucklebackit replied to spikey's topic in Wheeltappers
I am quite sue thee will be a list of those who have been given the vaccine, and that list will also show which vaccine you will have been given so that statistical data can be compiled as to which is the most effective. jim -

A groanworthy one stolen from the RailUK forum The whole of Cornwall has been placed into tier 4 lockdown after hundreds of pirates returned home to Penzance to celebrate Christmas with their families. Apparently the Arrrrr rate has increased dramatically. Jim
