Just a quick update to say that I sourced a replacement chassis from ebay and the old chassis has been set aside, now running perfectly. Jim -

While in Scotland Lodge 0 (Kilwinning) remains the oldest in the world. So presumably coarse scale 0! Kilwinning being just north of Troon where Ayr MRC exhobition will be held this weekend. Jim -
I hear that the Royal Mail Post Office is to be renamed the Charles III Post Office. .......Or C3PO for short.

Pratt Truss, girder bridge, or sometime else? Jim

Hi all and thanks Martyn. Now that the low level Gateside depot is nearly complete, I have turned my thoughts to the next stage, which will be a refurbished Allenshaw inglenook adapted for this layout. The yard suffered a lot of damage during the various moves and times in storage so a lot of repairs are required. The new headshunt will not be on the girder bridge (which will become a mainline feature) but will be immediately behind the backscene for the depot and the approach track will be changed from a straight approach to a 1st radius curve  ! No biggy there as this yard will be restricted to small tank locos and 4 wheel wagons, indeed there will be a height restriction on the headshunt, with the Barclay pug being the yard shunter. The curved approach will also mean that the Foundry building will be rebuilt on a different footprint. This was the old plank being tried in place Cheers everyone. Jim

Surely don't need to go that far? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Place Although having sampled the delights of the Beamish Mary Inn, I can attest that there is no need to buy booze from Smiths

Hi all, so 14 months on and I am finally back modelling. The first plan was not exactly what I was looking for and I still yearned for the old concept. By chance I was getting my book collection sorted out and I came across my old C. J. Freezer books, and I looked at plan L24 in "Plans for Larger Layouts" which had been the inspiration for my original G&N and realised that this plan had been shoehorned into a 8' 6" by 7' 6" room, I had 6" more all round so the challenge was on to do the full G&N concept in that space. A lot of drawing later I came up with this plan. It is a true Freezer inspiration, basic plan L24, low level station under Mavisbank is from S22 "Plans for Small Railways"and the multiple bridge river crossing P25 from "Track Plans". Purists will be horrified but I just like lots of operating potential. Baseboard building started just before Xmas last year but the room needed to be used for storage which prevented any further work. I decided then to work on what will be the lowest level at the bottom R/H corner of the layout. This had originally been planned as a non scenic low level locomotive storage fiddle yard and turning facility, but since I had time on my hands it has developed into this... A lot of buildings from the old layout have been re-purposed, the only thing that is new is the Peco turntable. Great to be back modelling. Jim

Thanks guys, I saw a couple of these coaches unboxed but still in good condition in a bargain bin for £15 each at an antiques fair and was tempted. I know the guy will be back next month so if they are still there £30 will be spent! Cheers Jim -
As the title says, did any Hawksworth coaches ever find their way into Scotland in the 1960s, possibly in through Bristol to Glasgow or Edinburgh workings. Thanks Jim
