  4. Was there not a Stirlng/Perth) to Inverness Motorail service at one time, introduced because of the state of the A9, possibly the shortest of the Motorail routes. jim
  5. I think a railway office would have been an early candidate for computerisation, T.O.P.S. was introduced in the early 1970s and a depot would have needed terminals to process data for that system. Jim
  6. I see that Peter Hands has finally embraced the electronic age and has set up a website http://www.whathappenedtosteam.com/ Some interesting stuff on there. Jim

  8. In the days before the WCML electrification was completed, the Newton Abbott Motorails were a "must see" at Coatbridge Central as the WR class 47s worked right through to Stirling and Perth and it was not unusual to have on of the (then) very rare "namers" at the head of the train. Jim
  9. That NBR four plank wagon is going to need something to haul it, a J36 would fit the bill perfectly! Jim

  15. In a similar vein... A little bird was flying south for the Winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him. Morals of the story: (1) Not everyone who sh1ts on you is your enemy. (2) Not everyone who gets you out of sh1t is your friend. (3) If you are warm and happy in your own little pile of sh1t it is sometimes best to keep your mouth shut!
