I recall being down at my local Health Centre a while ago and there was a poster on the wall about autism, the symbol associated with the condition was the classic steam loco as you would see on the level crossing warning sign. I remember being a little offended by it but reading this it now makes some sense. Jim

  9. That is a really nice layout, with very few tweaks I could see that as a Glasgow Suburban scene with class 303s running passenger services. Jim

I remember before the WCML electrification was completed to Glasgow the class 84s were stored surplus to requirements, this meant that they were ideal locos to be dragged out at various open days to represent AC traction. There was one at Carlisle Diesel Depot open day in May 1971 (unfortunately I cannot remember the number) but what I do remember was that the drivers desks were covered in initials scratched into the paintwork by spotters. this obviously was not its first appearance!   22. One of the more unusual uses of the AC locomotive fleet was on 4 x MkIII +DVT formations on the Edinburgh to North Berwick Local service during a shortage of EMUs in 2005. Here is 90027 approaching Prestonpans on 2nd May that year Jim
