  1. The SNP has a much better record on rail reconstruction than the rest of the UK (London excepted), Larkhall. Alloa, Airdrie to Bathgate and the Borders Line are the best examples, pressure is still on to add to these lines but the cost of electrification of just about everything in the central belt just now will probably mean no reopened routes in the near future. Possible future re-openings include Grangemouth, Methil and St Andrews, with the extension to the Borders line still a possibility Jim
  2. In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson

  4. Looks like Legends prediction might be right! With the jungle drums hinting at a Hornby J36 for around the same time, 2019 looks like a good year to model Scottish Railways!
  5. Hope this one comes to the SECC, a layout that is instantly recognisable without the text, would love to watch this one in action. Jim
  6. Couldn't have been GWR, it was the Romans that set Standard Gauge!
  7. Would any of the myths dispelled involve the teaser photographs of the locomotive being measured up in the Hornby Collectors Club being Maude? Jim
  8. The Turkey being given a pardon was funny he even clapped his hands afterwards.

  11. One of those rare shots of a preserved line that you could think was a genuine working railway shot Lovely - Jim
  12. Thanks - I support your policy wholeheartedly, I witnessed the arrival of the 158s, replacing the 47/7s on the Glasgow to Edinburgh services and it was the end of an era, not for the better I may say. It was almost like the end of steam for the older generation and I lost a lot of interest and stopped spotting at that time/ Jim
  13. 257 was the first one I saw at Haymarket... And I also saw the prototype on the shuttle that open day What next?? Jim
  14. No chance, now you are talking about a mandatory holiday (and January 2nd). Scotland puts the closed signs up for those two days, apart from our Muslim community who have the good sense to open up and sell that famous hangover cure - Irn Bru, they are also open on Xmas day and I am told they make a fortune selling batteries for all that tech and toys opened on Xmas morning. Jim Jim
  15. And Glasgow was the last city in the UK where you could catch a train on Christmas Day - as late as 1979, Jim
  16. Stanier 2-6-4T 42591 awaiting its turn to be cut up at McLellands Coatbridge Next - A diesel in a scrapyard Jim
  17. The Website "The Bashing Years" has 40101 working the 1E09 0739 Glasgow Queen Street - Scarborough on 07/06/75 was it still in green in 1975 Jim
  18. This one made me giggle http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/41997936/greggs-sorry-for-swapping-jesus-for-sausage-roll-in-nativity-scene I would be more worried that Greggs are suggesting that the connection with a stable would imply that there was meat in a Greggs Sausage Roll Jim
  19. And just like Ayrton Senna, Ayr Town Centre was once wonderful, but now is cold and dead. (Hamilton and Irvine aren't much better though)
