  1. Couldn't agree more, and in no way expect Dave to fail, but it is a significant distinction worth knowing about crowd sourced funding in general.
  2. Not sure that's the case, you aren't buying anything, you're investing in return for a reward. HMRC is irrelevant. It's not FCA regulated, the Consumer Credit Act 2015 doesn't apply. Just yesterday I was reading about a cycling innovation by a Dublin-based company funded through Kickstarter. It smashed its target, but 3 years later they've just said "sorry, we've failed, we've run out of time and money, we have no product and we can't offer refunds". This was on a c€500 product. You have no recourse in that instance. You haven't bought anything. You've made a pledge to support them and will (hopefully) be rewarded with a product of value commensurate to your investment.
  3. Interesting, I thought the way the light reflected made it look the other way around too. They've obviously lost their ability to paint straight lines!
  4. Is it that way around? I assumed the cabsides/front ends were vinyls and the sides were painted? It's a shame 43185 looks quite as awful as it does! It's not even round the nose either.
  5. Looks to be one seller who's now listed 18, mostly with equally blurry pictures. Grey ones have shot up straight away. Red clearly less popular! I do wish I'd gone for an EWS rake too, feels they would have been a sound investment (as I'd tell my wife!).
  6. Look forward to seeing those! I agree that many tankers, if you replicated faithfully, would be dismissed as unrealistic, particularly those where parts of the barrel have obviously been wiped clean by washing/lineside growth! I see there are 12 red and 3 grey VTG ones on eBay, interested to see what they sell for. First ones I've seen (and I set up an alert out of curiosity). Edited because I don't count good.
  7. Working fine for me? Have to now select DC or DCC Sound from the drop down?
  8. Congrats on the PhD, this presumably means no more awesome 3D prints though?!
  9. Bump for you. Hope he shows up, it looks stunning.
  10. Bloody hell! Maybe I should sell mine, not sure I've ever used it!
  11. I'm just not convinced in can, in an N gauge pan, myself. AFAIK other arcing modules are mounted 'lineside', not on the stock.
  12. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, there are lots of things real trains do that models don't, just can't see it looking good myself. Like I say, very happy to be proven wrong!
  13. Sounds like a total gimmick to me. Unnecessary.
  14. I think that's the point... didn't they even say the announcements including the 319 etc were the 2016-17 announcements
  15. That's one hell of a train! Would love some of the STVA car carriers certainly!
  16. Thanks Ben! I'll try and get a proper photo of the rake later in the week (once I tidy the layout up a bit!), they really do look superb, even mrs njee20 was impressed!
  17. I didn't take any pictures, as there's a shameful amount of detritus on my baseboard shattering any sort of illusion that it's a reasonable layout! I did take a blurry iPhone video though!
  18. That's intriguing. Wonder why I've got one. Wonder if a neighbour has signed for them.
  19. New modern wagon Being announced at Warley, plus the hicube containers and class b tankers.
  20. Got my email today to say my two orders were complete. Exciting times, looking forward to getting them!
  21. I'd echo Jeremy's suggestion - I'll be having two beasties at least, so not ruining one by attempting to renumber it would be good!
  22. Ironic that the Bachman Desiro has an easily accessible DCC socket, the Farish one is a nightmare. I've just about got confident that I'm not going to snap the underframe as I fitted decoders to my 4th unit! Agree that easy accessibility is definitely nice, but someone one only tends to discover after purchase!
  23. Given the events of the last week it doesn't seem unreasonable to link to this!
