  1. Another shot - this time with steam - thanks to another mate who showed up at Stow
  2. Chris Thanks I caved in and bought a RTR DJH 14 - it's a bit pristine but I will be weathering it before much longer. The Ixion loco did stretch its legs yesterday - invoking the "its my train set" rule of course - and went well. It's sound fitted courtesy of a Digitrains J94 Zimo project Chris
  3. A few more iffy photos from the show at Stow yesterday
  4. Thanks for the kind words Kenton I don't have too many photos of construction but these should give you a flavour.
  5. I thought it was time my new layout had a separate thread -pictures have appeared on the Stow Rail thread as well as a few others. Bakewell Street is my first attempt at a 7mm layout and is something of an experiment. It is a simple test track laid out as an “Inglenook” or shunting twig but with a sector plate runround at the end of two of the twig sidings.I used Peco track. It is designed to be extended if I wish but was exhibited at Stowrail unfinished. I have a very long "to do" list. It is loosely based in the early 1960s located on the BR Western Region somewhere in the Gloucester area although I also have stock associated with the northwest that also runs on the layout. The layout is usually run with a NCE DCC system and many of the locomotives are sound chipped. The couplings are Sprat & Winkle operated using both fixed and electro magnets. These couplings were generally pretty reliable in use at the show but some fiddling is still required The locomotives are a mixture of kit built and ready-to-run and the wagons are mainly kit-built plastic and brass kits from Slater’s, Parkside and Connoisseur. Weathering is a mixture of "out-sourced" and my own. Here are two shots sent to me today by one of the operating team. Chris
  6. I'll second the comments on the DVDs - really useful intro to the dark arts... Chris
  7. and more photos please Those are some cracking photos in post 41 Thanks Marc Wait 'til you see the photos Ian Manderson has done for RM - should be in the mag soon Chris
  8. As requested - one poor sketch of Pixash Lane - I've added a 2 siding FY extension on the right since this was done. Chris
  9. Barnaby Thanks for that - I too have gone over to 7mm - so "son of Pixash" will emerge soon - first outing at Stow on 18 May I'll scan a plan of Pixash and post it. Chris
  10. I can answer my own question - Bachmann confirm it is only 4 axles that pick up - the info about the connection to the speaker provided by Steve above may actually be another cause of the problems I thought were down to the pick ups. Chris
  11. If this is covered elsewhere I apologise - how many wheels are meant to pick up? - my new Mauretania is just 4 axles picking up - the "centre" axles do not appear to have pick ups Thanks Chris
  12. Keep us posted Phil - I'm tempted to try to get the ladder off myself.. Chris
  13. Just ordered a Mauretania from my local - he's slightly more than some of the box shifters but he's round the corner and has bits, and paint, and kits etc etc so long may he prosper Chris
  14. Nice to see a fair bit of O gauge interest - is it becoming more popular?
  15. That looks ambiguous - do they mean current at the time of order or delivery?
  16. I lied - PL will be at Chippenham on 27 September Chris
  17. I had a dodgy Heljan/Hattons14 in the very first batch - replaced without issue Chris
  18. I keep seeing 2 car HST power car sets (west bound Friday in Cardiff - very impressive acceleration from a red outside the station as I came down from Queen Street- and east bound on Sunday along the embankment across the flood plain at Saltford near Bath - is this all related or pure coincidence? Chris
  19. You know what I think - keep it and do some more shows - I could even bring something dirty to run next time?
  20. Nothing of my own - possibly helping with an On30 layout if I don't make the trek north to Stafford....
  21. Pixash is now also doing Hornby Mag's Great Electric Train Show in October - that should be it for this year as I need to concentrate on the 7mm project Chris
  22. A quick update. I don't do many shows but “Pixash Lane” will be at MENDIP 2014. This is the annual two day show hosted by the Shepton & District Model Railway Society. at Doulting village hall, near Shepton Mallet, on the 14th & 15th of June, 2014. Hopefully the weather will be at bit warmer and less wet and windy - it feels a long way away...... Happy New Year Chris
