  1. Hi everyone, No photos tonight but a bit of a rolling stock update. I have removed the couplings and their associated pockets from the underside of one of my CDA wagons. I plan on adding some extra detailing and seeing how it looks. The PBA tiger china clay bogie wagon has had some etched parts added and will hopefully be completed and ready for the paint shop by the end of the week. I think I'll try and get a rake of 8 or 9 of these wagons as they look rather impressive. I intend to use DG couplings on most of the wagons with 3 link couplings on the clay hood wagons but with DG's on the outer ends of the rake. I'll post some photos over the weekend of progress on this. Best regards, Jeremy
  2. I think someone on here was going to do a 4mm model of Liskeard. In N it would look great though, plenty of space for that lovely viaduct with a slice of the Moorswater branch running under!
  3. Hi all! Today I've managed to get the templot template for my Y turnout glued down and the sleepers cut to length and fixed into position. Here is a photo with the common crossing offered into position. I'm glad I took this photo as I have noticed that a couple of the sleepers are sticking up to one end so I'll need to fix them down with a heavy book on top to keep them firmly in position until the glue has dried. Apologies for the "yellowness" of the photos but it seems to be due to the lighting in our conservatory. Overall view of board 2 showing progress on trackwork and buildings offered into position. HST arrives ex-Penzance, class 50042 lurks in the background with a short rake of ballast hoppers. The Newquay bound DMU awaits departure. View from the rear Best regards, Jeremy
  4. You are right Cav about the diesel wheelsets, you can't see the difference but I have just had the wheels sets on my Dapol A4 turned down and the difference is very noticeable.
  5. Hi mate, I've had a sneaky peak at the finetrax website and although it looks good, it doesn't offer as much flexibiltiy in turnout construction as 2mmFS does. Plus I think the end result of 2mmFS easitrac will look that much better although I can't fault the looks of the finetrax system. Thanks for looking in. Best regards, Jeremy
  6. Hi Julia, Many thanks for your comments. I think I will leave a hole in the baseboeard which will allow me several options for turnout operation. I'll get all the turnouts in situe first and then work out a system. Best regards, Jeremy
  7. Cheers Cav. Although the iniial plan was to use to easitrac to N scale standards, I've decided to go full on 2mmFS. It's going to be costly long term with all the replacement wheelsets but it'll be worth it.
  8. Good evening all, A very small update but a giant leap forward in my modelling. I have just finished putting together and soldering my first ever 2mmFS common crossing . It's taken me all night but I don't care, I've managed it!! I had to file out my V jig as the rails were not flowing through smoothly so this has taken up quite alot of my time. Tomorrow I'll lay the sleepoers and fix the rails and chairs into position. Still no idea how I'm going to do the tie bar but I'll think about that when I get to it. Also need to consider how I'm going to "motorise" the turnouts on Par. Any suggestions welcome! A shot of the crossing. Best regards, Jeremy
  9. Just looked back at the photo, Chris at CJM has done a wonderful job on the weathering, it does look so real!!
  10. That is one serious bit of trackwork! And there was me panicking over a Y turnout!
  11. Superb stuff there! Will be following with interest. Best regards, Jeremy
  12. Hi Ben, It's very much an "in the future" project and I may make a start on it towards the end of next year. It will be a very long term home project and the plans I have drawn up are based on a prototype location and the layout could extend to about 9m in length once finished. However, I could very well do BZ as that would make operatiing Par even more interesting!!! That aside, I am emjoying building Par and can't wait to exhibit it! Best regards, Jeremy
  13. I need to get Par finished first and hopefully get a few invites to exhibit it. If i decide not to model BZ, my future project will involve class 90's, present day activity, and hand made catenary, all in 2mmFS!
  14. Very nice Jerry. Looks like you may have beat me to it on St Blazey! Looking forward to seeing it progress, will you start a layout thread for this one?? However, if I model this location it would be in the 80's period so as to coincide with the period modelled for Par. I also have other projects in mind too which are non Cornwall related....................
  15. Once Par is finished, I may have a bash at building a full scale 2mmFS model of St Blazey Depot as it would meake sense seeing as they are both pretty much side by side. Although I would only ever exhibit Par.
  16. Some great photos of Par here!! http://wobblewinterwanderings.smugmug.com/search/?q=Par&c=media&scope=album&scopevalue=18703085_bz9m4C
  17. Go for it Mickey! Lostwithiel offers some great potential for shunting and the cream dairy would be a great building to model. My wife asked me the other day what I would do once Par is finished and I said either St Blazey Depot or Lostwithiel.
  18. Go for it Ian! Lostwithiel could be a good one then we could link up the layouts at an exhibition for a real nice slice of Cornish 80's atmosphere!!
  19. Just for you pompeydave, here's another shot of CJM 50030 on an up service just leaving Par. Best regards, Jeremy
  20. My last one for this evening. FGW HST power car and a lovely old semaphore signal at Liskeard a couple of years back.
  21. Not a portrait but another of 3205 as she steams away into the distance. Hope it's ok to post this one, it's not a portrait but I rarther liked the shot.
