  1. The difference is very noticeable. Now I just need to re-wheel all my stock.......
  2. Cheers Ian, it really does make a difference. It's just a lot more time consuming!
  3. Good afternoon, A brief update on where I'm at my first turnout and some photos as I'm not going to have a huge amount of time to do any trackwork this week as I prefer to do this in our conservatory with plenty of natural light, so I'll be cracking on with rolling stock and buildings over the next few evenings. I decided to separate the "V" and the common crossing as I wanted to add some additional chairs to secure them into position (as in the prototype) and then run some feeder wires to the bus wires underneath the board to keep the electrical current flowing across the crossing. There are a couple of chairs which have strayed off centre when I was fixing them down but on the whole I'm really pleased with the current result. A couple of progress shots. Any comments are most welcome. Best regards, Jeremy
  4. Oh dear, another one we have to wait for. I'd very much like a chocolate and cream liveried one for my Cornish Mainline layout. Still also waiting for those blue/grey MK3 buffets to surface.......the wait continues! Maybe I'll consider the Worsley Works etched class 142 in the meantime.
  5. Good evening all. No photos of progress this evening but I have managed to complete one of the stock rails and install the "V" into position with some additional chairs for support on my first turnout in 2mmFS. It's really starting to come together and I'm pleased so far with how it looks. Tomorrow night I plan to finish the last stock rail. I didn't realise how long it would take to thread all the individual chairs onto the rail and making sure I had the correct type of chair for each sleeper position. Photos to follow of the completed turnout in the next few days. Best regards, Jeremy
  6. Yes, mine is the plastic version. I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.
  7. Hi Cav, I'm attacking my first turnout tomorrow. It's all quite daunting this track building malarkey! Looking forward to your next photo update. Best regards, Jeremy
  8. Great find. I also have this book and have just checked out the photo. Excellent shot of the West side!
  9. Great set of photos! Plenty of nostalgia there. I rather liked the Executive livery on HST's. Certainly was and still is (in my opinion) the smartest livery ever to adorn these locos. Most liveries these days just look like vomit!
  10. Nice looking turnout Pete! At least you can see what you are doing in 7mm.......much easier than 2mm!!
  11. Cheers Pete! Just waiting on the transfers to arrive and then I'll spray paint it and apply the transfers. Thanks Tom, PM on its way!
  12. I haven't seen many either and I read somewhere that there were only 14 built. There are a few photos on Paul Bartletts website.
  13. Thanks Robert. it is one of the reasons why I chose this particular location and era, plenty of varied motive power and wagon types. The PRA's are available from shapeways and I plan to purchase 4 of these so I can recreate a photo of a speedlink service featured in John Vaughan's book. I'm not sure on a release date for the Traffic Services polybulks but I'll certainly have a few of these on my list when they become available. Currently on order is 50010 in large logo livery with grey roof from Chris at CJM, delivery expected Spring next year. I already have the Illustrated History of China Clay Trains. In fact I have all of John's book which are Cornwall related as he lives not far from me, and my wife and I are best friends with his daughter! My next building project will be the Island platform canopy and then I'll move on to the "Wychway Inn". Thanks again for your interest in my layout mate. Best regards, Jeremy
  14. Hi Cav, How about a 150 in Provincial livery to add to the mix. They were around in the 80's and could well have ventured to Millers Dale. Best regards, Jeremy
  15. I think they were a special order. But if you email John, he will make them up for you. The bodies from Shapeways do need quite a bit of smoothing before you can add any etched parts but it is well worth the effort. I'm still unsure how I'm going to tackle the blue flash, but it looks like I'll have to do some clever masking to form the flash.
  16. Thanks mate! I'm hoping to have a few of these beasts!! I hope to form some correct 80's speedlink formations using prototype photos so should make for some interesting operations. Best regards, Jeremy
  17. A little update further to my last post. I couldn't resist posting a few pictures of my PBA Tiger china clay wagon. The body is a shapeways 3D print and the etched parts and buffers are from TPM for a ferrywagon but fit nicely on the PBA wagon. Additional handrails were made up using 0.25mm wire and I have still to add some more pipework and buffers to one end. I'm quite pleased with the results so far. Once finished, I'll spray it into the original ECC white livery with the blue flash and transfers have already been ordered from John at Precision transfers and decals. Also, here are a couple of photos of the Peco CDA with the couplings removed. They look better already! I need to add a few extra detailing parts yet which hopefully will enhance it further. Couplings will be 3 link chains with DG's on the outer ends of the rake. Best regards, Jeremy
  18. Some nice effects there Cav! I like the rain washes down the sides. Best regards, Jeremy
  19. Cheers Phil! It sounds like, headcode boxes aside, there isn't a huge difference between the two classes.
  20. Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help, what are the differences, if any, between the 45's and 46's? My period modelled is the 80's. (Not sure if this makes any difference) Any help would be great. Many thanks in advance. Jeremy
