Yes the Peak is at Eastleigh. They were quite common on the Severn Tunnel to Eastleigh Speedlink and return, though finished in 1985. Ceptic
Cough !!, splutter !!, Ahem !! Ahh, that's better. Now that the dust's settled, it's good to see this super thread again. Thanks fellas. 'The Royal Wessex' railtour arrives at Bournemouth. I can't be specific about the time and date, but I think it was in connection with one of the open days at Branksome depot, either the one in '88, (compare the weather in these pics. against the pics. on the old thread, old forum), or the 15/5/1998 open day shown below, Cl.159, No.159 017 provides the shuttle between B'm'th Station and the depot. There has been an ongoing decision to be made as to whether these units will replace the EMU 3-CIG, Slamdoor stock on the Lymington branch. I've heard that Lymington Pier station is shortly to be up graded, SWT are currently short of Desiro units and, if 159s are used, it will mean training for the BOMO crews. And a couple for SRMan If it's any consolation to you SRMan, the most comfortable ride I'd ever experienced was on a Bulleid 4-SUB between Waterloo East and Plumstead. The commuters, these days, don't know what they're missing. The 4-REPs + 4-TCs used to rattle yer bits (especially the ladies), between Winchester and Battledown, and the 442s' cramped seating prevented any bits of you from moving........ I rest my case.
