gordon s
Had a relly enjoyable day yesterday on The Royal Wessex which ran from Victoria to Weymouth. We picked up the train at Reading. A late engine change meant 70013 Oliver Cromwell was substituted for Black 5, 44871. This was double headed with King Arthur, 30777, Sir Lamiel. Both engines were beautifully turned out and ran faultlessly for the whole day. The weather was perfect and numerous railway fans lined the route. I'd love to see some pics of the train from the countryside. You really can't beat a sunny day in the UK..... Here's a few pics.

I am really envious of your trip as I just love Weymouth and it holds some fond memories for me from 1967. I bet it was absolutely heaving at the beach! Cromwell has a firebox problem which means she/he will be out for a while; shame. I think the sight and sound of these two coming up Upwey bank must have been spectacular. Thanks for the beautiful pics, especially the Arthur cab shot - just right for one of my next kit builds! Sincerely, 36E
