Marcus 37
Love those puddles. That's a sentence I don't think I've ever said before! The approach to the quarry's looking great. Thanks Pete. It was Bodgit (Andy P) who gave me the idea for the puddles. Those plastic sleeves from the Peco point packaging sure come in useful. Looking forward to giving your concrete tips a try on the quarry haul road. Cheers Marcus.
Marcus 37
Excuse me butting in Adrian, but I normally use Hair Spray to add further layers of static grass after the first one. Extra-Hold is a must - Silky Shine and Vitamin B5 not essential... Al. Yep. And the cheaper the better works best. Aldi Value..... Can't beat it but I wouldn't risk using it on my hair. Marcus 37
Well a bit off topic but, who cares. I did a little job this morning moving a Skateboard (153) from Derby to Tyseley. When I arrived at the RTC I think I may have of walked through a time warp as this couple of rather tasty beasties were sat on the depot. 2016 and walk on to a depot and find not one but, two Large Logo Tractors. Superb!!

big T
025 was always a bit large, and definitely one of my favourites. Who'd have thunk it, in 2016 large logo blue tractors on the main line?! Nice pics mate thanks for sharing them Cheers Trev Edited October 3, 2016 by big T

Grimleygrid
Very nice work on the puddles Marcus, very realistic. At some point in the future I will need to attempt to add some puddles to the front of Boxenby, looks like you are the main to help with advice and knowledge of making decent puddles! RBE
424 looks great but how come it has 558 on the side?
sdw7300
424 looks great but how come it has 558 on the side? I thought the same when I saw pictures of the naming ceremony. 37424 has been named Avro Vulcan XH558 "and carries the number 37558" on the side, but the loco is still 37424..... this obviously wont lead to any confusion! Marcus 37
Yep. Could get very entertaining. Especially when the driver in the early hours of the morning is looking for 37424 and can only find 37558. HaHaHa.

Marcus 37
Evening folks Been rather busy at work again so progress on the layout has been a bit slow of late. Managed a couple of hours this afternoon adding more static grass around the quarry roads now that the dust and ballast is fully dry. A couple of photo's below of today's progress.... Couldn't resist these two with the 47 reflecting in the puddles Also we have another couple of guests courtsey of my mate at work who asked me if I would run them in for him Must admit I really like the 14. Its a great little model with plenty of pulling power. Its a shame I missed out on the Blue Circle example as I would probably have had one as the works shunter. The Sentinel is a lovely looking model but didn't like nine empty Dapol HIA's so I think I shall give this one a miss for now. Finally Diane and I went to The Range today which has recently opened up nearby. I got this rather nice drawer tower which is perfect for a stock box. Each draw comfortably holds six loco's but even better holds nine bogie hoppers perfectly. I shall just make some card inserts to go between the loco's so they don't rub against each other. Should keep my stock clean and dust free rather than sitting on the shelf in between runs. Day off tomorrow so work will continue on the quarry roads. Cheers for now Marcus
sdw7300
Hi Marcus. Your layout is coming together really well. The sparse grass and reflective puddles look spot on.
