Looks like you had a good day out bashing and drinking Marcus,

075 looks great in that liv too. When I am over next I might have to do the line as I've not done it before and it looks pretty good.

Cheers Peter.

Definitely worth a visit Peter. Although it's only about 5 miles long it's got some stiff gradients so there's plenty of audio entertainment. Also it's got some lovely scenery being Yorkshire.

Haworths definitely worth exploring as you've got the shed, the station gift shop which stocks a good selection of Bachmann and Hornby. Then 5 minutes walk up the road you've got Pennine Models.

So all in all a good day out.

Cheers

Nice one George. Looks as if it's a fuelling crane which is something a bit different. The actuall tank looks similar to ours at Hams Hall.

A quick update on the loading building. The plasticard arrived from Slaters on Saturday so made a start on cladding the building yesterday. A few pictures below.

Hopefully I might get a few hours here and there this week to crack on with the sides.

Shall make a start tomorrow on the other side by cutting out the window apertures. Got a nice diamond disc now for the multi tool which cuts through the hardboard like butter, which makes life a lot easier.

Cheers

Cheers Chaps. Started making a stair case and balcony as well this afternoon which will lead upto the door in the tower. The one in Doveholes quarry has it on the other side but it would be a shame not to see it when it's on the layout.

Darren's coming round to do some more soldering tomorrow so once that's done I will be able to crack on with the quarry in ernest.

Cheers

Just in case you thought I'd deserted RM web I've just been rather busy doing other stuff . I am still doing a it of modelling when I've a spare few minutes. Mainly tinkering around with the loading building still which is now coming together quite nicely.

Here's a quick picture from today.

post-18515-0-57565000-1432652660_thumb.jpg

As you can see the door way in the tower now leads out onto an external stair case. Also the tower now has a roof which is removable for if I manage to build a working conveyer.

The first coats of paint have already been applied to the sides as well.

That sit for now.

Cheers

Just in case you thought I'd fallen off the face of the earth, I have been beavering away quietly but have been really busy of late both at home and at work.

Anyway here's a little update of what I've been upto.

The loading shed is as good as finished although needs a few little bits adding such as down pipes etc. Also a light weathering will be done when I've invested in an airbrush.

One problem I have encountered is gluing the Plastikard to the clear Perspex and the foam board. I've had it warp and pop off on a couple of occasions. I've tried poly cement, Uhu, and Superglue but none have been particularly successful. If anybody could recommend a good adhesive that would be appreciated before I start on any of the other structures.

Here's a few pictures of the shed on the layout. Once I've built the screening tower, the overhead conveyer will be added.

As well as the shed I've also made concrete hard standing that the shed stands on from Foam board with strips of Plastikard to do the infil between the rails.

Having order a job lot of foam board from that well known online auction site, to have a break from the shed in between coats of paint I've built the carcass for the over bridge by the station. This will eventually be clad with brick and stone plasticard. The arches will be stone whereas the parapet will be blue brick similar to the one at Peak Forest.

Finally the ever eagle eyed Big Jim noticed I was 21 again.........Yeah Right. Times that by 2 + 1!!

Well this year I really treated myself. The ever talented Cav produced this little beauty for me. Can't thank him enough for it and the level of workmanship is absolutely superb. She really is gorgeous and will definitely be the pride of the fleet.

Well that's it for now. I'll try not to leave it so long next time.

  • RMweb Gold

It's all looking great, the shed is absolutely brilliant, and the bridge captures the one at Peak Forest perfectly.

Brilliant stuff Marcus, really excellent, the whole scene is coming together nicely.

For the perspex, have you tried MEK? I was surprised how well it worked on the station canopy on Bakewell, which used thin perspex sheets.

Cheers,

Al.

That buildings looking great Marcus, will you be doing working loaders? The 37 is looking at home on there too. Glad that it meets your expectations. Ive always liked intercity livery. Im about to start an N gauge 47 in the mainline version of it for myself.

Yep, she's perfect mate. Chuffed to bits with her.

I'm thinking of using the screening tower once I've built it to have an open back so I can load the stone on to a conveyer there and then fit a chute down into the wagons in the tower of the loading shed. The end cut off a small mineral water bottle looks as if it wold make a nice funnel as it's just slightly smaller than the width of the wagons opening.

Looking forward to seeing that 47. I remember having a 47/4 on a ballast a good few years ago in Intercity Mainline. Can't remember the number apart from it was 47/5 something. They did look smart in that livery though.
