RMweb Gold scottystitch Posted January 13, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 13, 2015 Hi Folks. Hope this is the correct place to post this.... I have planned and booked time off for a week's train travel around Cornwall and Devon, the basic (fluid) itenerary is as follows: Sat 13/06 Inverurie to Penzance 07:43 - 21:46 Sun 14/06 Penzance to St Ives St Ives to Falmouth Mon 15/06 Falmouth to Newquay Newquay to Gunnislake Tues 16/06 Gunnislake to Looe Looe to Totnes Wed 17/06 Totnes to Buckfastleigh - Steam Railway Buckfastleigh to Totnes - Steam Railway Totnes to Paignton Paignton to Barnstaple Thur 18/06 Barnstaple to Exmouth Exmouth to Taunton Taunton to Minehead - Steam Railway Minehead to Taunton - Steam Railway Fri 19/06 Taunton to Inverurie 10:51 - 21:19 Paington steam railway is omitted as I've already travelled on it and if I miss it out it gives time to travel on the Exemouth branch. The out and back times are based on winter timetable, but it is a rough guide. Anyone any thoughts on interesting railway related places to visit along the lines? I'd like to catch and photograph some clay trains, and I will consult RealTimeTrains when I'm there, but I'm guessing best places to catch them would be Par or Liskeard? All thoughts and advice greatly appreciated...... Many thanks Scotty
RMweb Gold scottystitch Posted January 13, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 13, 2015 My first thoughts....... Yes, this is the right place to post this Par or Lostwithiel for seing clay trains.. Without having checked the timetables, Id swap the Newquay_gunnislake for a trip to Looe that day and go to Gunni the next one and then on to Totnes.... Thank you sir, why would you modify the schedule in that way?
RMweb Premium Kris Posted January 14, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 14, 2015 I would say that your Thursday is tight. Remember that you will need to get a bus from the station at Taunton to the WSR. This is several miles and will take some time.
