steve45
Hi Rob, Sorry to hear about your back/leg. When I had sciatica a couple of years ago I used a tens machine for pain relief. It worked very well. I was also told to use cold compress, not hot, as hot made the nerve angry. I really would not like to go back there, it was awful and you have my sympathy Edited May 17, 2023 by steve45 Additional Information 1
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted May 18, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 18, 2023 (edited) My thanks to everyone for their advice and support ( ? ! ) for my ongoing back/leg issues. Today sees little change but continuing perseverance. But...........in the good news section...... Two Hattons 6 whl L&NER coaches arrived from Hattons this evening. As described and good value. Crucially, this completes (ish ) the passenger service requirements for a potential East Anglian Light Railway............ NickBrad
I think I may have to order one of those Hattons coaches, looks just the thing for replicating the grounded coach that once resided at Outwell Basin

You'll need to place a pre-order for one of the next batch due in December. Either that or do as I did and add to a wishlist on Hattons website. That's how I got mine. Ebay seems to see these either offered by chancers or auctions going a bit daft. Rob 1
Schooner
Seems a shame to let these links go to waste, so I'll just pop them here for safekeeping. Hope no-one minds. Although suspiciously Eastern for my liking, can't deny it's an interesting little scene. Luckily @KNP has already proven it's impossible to model a barge. Oh, no, wait... Back in the real world: Mind you, can't imagine you'd enjoy having a crack at any of those buildings, Rob. Certainly don't think you'd make an excellent and evocative job of them. Probably for the best you've moved on. Apart from anythng else, there's two whole engines shown (location already mentioned elsewhere in this thread), anyway. Far too much, that'd be silly. The eponymous local vessels are up to 40' long, so far too big to model. Generated specific wagon traffic 'tho, as well as some interesting niche options, in addition to the broad needs of the area - see the train in the station. Bet that bridge would make a rubbish scenic break an' all, and I definitely don't like the look of those sheds. I suppose that if one were to look for a little but operationally diverse scene for inspiration, it might be of interest... If you were feeling a little more reclusive, however Loch Carron, Highlands of Scotland, 13 August 1876. This photograph was taken from the Strome Ferry Hotel, by a photographer doing a tour of England and Scotland in a Pullman train. The party visited Haddon Hall in Derbyshire, Melrose Abbey and Bristol, amongst other places. The coming of the railways made it easier for people to take excursions and see different parts of Britain. (Photo by SSPL/Getty Images) Hope the back's heading in the right direction :) 8 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted May 20, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 20, 2023 Evening all, Well. Progress of sorts. I'm down to do a charity motorcycle ride tomorrow morning and given one's back, I thought I'd best see how the land lay today. A rubbish night's sleep saw me wake in some discomfort. No real progress since yesterday. However, some movement ( early doors trip to the supermarket with the Memsahib ) saw an improvement and a reduction in pain. Fortified by this, back home, I swung a leg over the trusty mount and sat on it. So far so good. Could I take it off and put back on main stand and safely wheel it about. Yes. Hat and coat donned, I popped out and topped up the fuel and after a few grunts, popped some wind in the tyres. 15 miles later ( petrol station is less than 2 from Chateau Sheep...............) all was okay. Some pain in lower back, right thigh/groin/calf but tolerable, worse off bike than on. So, early night then good to go at Sparrowfart tomorrow. Updates tomorrow.
