Some sets can be surprisingly good value. Some months back, Paignton Model Shop had a GWR HST in the window, albeit with only one coach. Since I'm not anal about detail on a model of that sort - it turned out to be Railroad - the price of £149 seemed reasonable. Blow me when I got home it had track, points, a track-mat and a controller!

Yes Ian, Rick does provide good value in many cases. I've bought one or two locos from him at roughly competitive prices to Hattons et al at around box shifter prices plus their carriage charges so I try to use his shop whenever something tempting comes out!

As it happens, I called in today, and came away with Torquay Manor. It had only been on display for an hour! I fear I will also be getting Cockington Manor when it appears. After all, as our wedding venue, it does have some merit....

We rejoiced when the Manors took over from the 43xx on the daily Reading - Redhill WR round trip, passing our alma mater, although Sherry, two years behind me, may not have been so interested then!

Good call but I already have open and closed cab versions........perhaps oddly, I prefer the closed cab job.
