Modeller’s recreating the modern scene should bear that in mind, whereas “historical” modellers can fill their boots with this tree type! Meanwhile, I’m going to take a look back over Rob’s use of hedges, bushes and tufts on his layouts for inspiration* although as there used to be a weeping willow two gardens down from me, I really want an excuse to be able to get one of those beauties! Steve S * Oh, if only a large format book of the same existed to casually flick through when inspiration was being sought… 😉 You're too kind Steve. Ewe was tge first time I used MBR products. Tree by MBR, static grass by WWS, reedsby Tasma Products, flower heads by Woodland Scenics, big leaves by Green Scene. Just chuck it together until it looks about right. And then there's Sheep Dip... Sorry, Rob, that just further strengthens my argument for a beautifully produced book of photos! 😉 I won’t mention it again, as by now you must be sick of me suggesting it, but if you ever decide to pursue the idea, let us know here first! Looking forward to finally meeting you in September! Steve S

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted August 27 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 27 Morning all, Much as I want to get on with Blackwater Pier, I'm looking forward to tackling a few overdue jobs on Ewe which has a busy couple of months ahead. It' s just under a month to go before we head to Derby for Jay's ( @JustinDean ) MAG do. The weekend after, we are at Rapido Towers for their inaugural show in Maidstone. A month after that, it's off to Taunton RailEx. First up will be adding to the stock in the form of a Hornby Toad B which needs weathering. I also have to finally knock up a loading gauge, something I've been threatening to do since Ewe was started...... Rob. 17 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted August 28 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 28 Morning all, One of the items of stock definitely travelling to MAG is this Hornby Toad E. I dug it out this morning simply to be able to refer to whilst distressing the Toad B. Rob. 18 7
MrWolf
Morning Rob, That really does look the business and I do like a brake van. I may have too many myself, something to do with the Pannier Principle (Probably). 2
GMKAT7
Good afternoon Rob and Rob, I agree about brake vans breeding like Panniers. Some how I have acquired 6-off BR SR types, 2-off BR standard vans, 3-off WR Toads, a Toad E and a LMR ex-MR type. Plus LMS, SR and SECR vans. Perhaps I should quit now? Cheers, Nigel.

RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted August 28 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 28 Staying with the brake vans of Ewe theme, here's a Hornby BR standard van supplied by the much missed Grahame Hitchen with an instruction to " do what you want but make sure you weather it".............So I did... I learnt the hard way the first year I organised SWAG that you can't exhibit at a show you're responsible for. There are too many other things you need to keep an eye on, be aware of and to be available if needed......and three years on, I'm still learning ! Indeed, I made it a rule, to apply to myself, from the very beginning of the Taunton RMWeb members days. It seems to be to be a bit like the conductor of an orchestra actually playing, so I don't know how those maestro players who do also conduct actually do it! 1 2

GMKAT7
Good afternoon Grunfos, Lovely weathering on your brake vans, especially the Queen Mary SR one, worthy of Rob's thread. I have 2, one repainted from NSE livery but awaiting decals to complete. Cheers, Nigel.
