RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted July 4 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 4 Morning all, Prep for Penarth under way but I must say not with much conviction. That said, I have all day tomorrow to attend to any emerging drama. On another note, we may well have an eagerly awaited addition to the Sheep Dip roster today with the arrival ( hopefully ) of a Dapol Hawthorn Leslie. Whilst the regular Peckett chaps, Dodo and Lemming are very able performers, variety is of course the spice of life. Updates will follow should this prove to be the case. RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted July 4 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 4 Evening all, What is likely to be the first of the Dapol Hawthorn Leslies has landed. Spider. First impressions are that he is very well detailed, has an excellent finish and runs very nicely straight out of the box. More to follow but very impressed. In fact, having bought a few locos over the last twelve months this could well be the one I'm most satisfied with. Rob. 28

I'd say it's pretty much in the same league as Dapol's B4 which I use as a yard stick in terms of creepy crawly slow speed running. Rob. 1

RMweb Gold Gilbert Posted July 4 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 4 But seriously......I'll be interested to see how the sound fitted one performs as DCC sound is far less forgiving of any tiny stutters which are not apparent on DC or DCC stealth...and its a very short wheel base....I assume it won't have a stay alive....but happy to be corrected... The Hornby Peckett is slightly low, they all are. Spider seems bang on. Add in a bit of a fisheye effect from the camera and the fact that they are sat on a wonky baseboard. Bobs yer uncle. RMweb Premium 03060 Posted July 5 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 5 I really wanted to buy 'Spider' but just couldn't come up with a valid or even tenuous reason for getting one ... luckily I managed to come up with one for 'Invincible' though ! 😅 'Spider' does look good though ... as do the green versions. For me, all it takes is a desire for somewhere for a little loco to play........or the discovery of a nice building to base a layout around..............or both....

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted July 5 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 5 Yes indeed, Tim. If it wasn't so sodding expensive ( even to me ) one may well have accompanied Boris home with me yesterday. Rob
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted July 5 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 5 Nice design, though and would look good in a Mid Wales setting.... I might just see how much Slaters plasticard I have upstairs later...

However, a Prairie won't fit in the hole. I know this. Rob 2 2

Rob Hi Rob, MS Models sell a similar building but at a slightly lower price. https://www.msmodels.co.uk/products/boston-lodge-based-blacksmiths The resin prints are also amazingly well detailed from my experience. I’d be interested to see if a standard gauge loco fits in it like the Scenecraft building Will 2

My friend came to borrow my electric jigsaw recently to make some fitting adjustments to a new wooden radiator cover he'd just bought. I asked him at what point he realised that he simply couldn't live without a fancy wooden cover over the radiator and needed to install one at once? Apparently, he didn't, he was told that he needed one. Though I did admit that Miss Riding Hood has educated me that towels come in sets and not random ones from here and there. Upside is that old towels are very handy for polishing motorcycles. Good luck, you may well have one that is unique, but just in case, practice your exit strategy... 5 3
