RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted May 21, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 21, 2023 In other news, a suitably jolly morning. One's Triumph went well and didn't look too shabby amongst the other near 300 bikes that headed out on the ride. Caught up with a few old( er !) familier faces. Last time I looked, we'd collectively raised some £24,000 to be donated to a variety of mens health charities. So, good stuff all round. RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted May 21, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 21, 2023 A worthy cause, but I won't ride without protective gear (err, no forget it) - so look most un-distinguished! Lots here doing it today too.

My recollection of Santorini is not much in the way of sheep wandering about... Rob It came from a shop with some interesting and different merchandise, not the usual tat with donkeys on... This card came with it, definitely me.

It was okay when riding apart from a bit of a nagging pain down my right thigh/outside of the calf. Noticed the back when I got off and "unfolded" though. The Triumph is quite stiffly sprung as I've always hated soft suspension, so I was a bit concerned but all good. Goes back to my youth when I was quite a sporting rider, despite insisiting on, even then, outdated machinery. A bit delicate this morning but well worth the effort yesterday. 5
MrWolf
Good to hear that you made it, it might even have shaken a few bits back into place. Hopefully it's made you feel a little more confident of getting better. I prefer stiff springing on a bike too, as wallowing on bends isn't remotely funny. The sprung hub on our '51 Triumph barely moves when I'm riding, probably not at all when the memsahib rides it, but it's got a nice sprung saddle as compensation.

Very sedate and the route was pretty good. Nice mix. I've brought the bike to work today. Rob 17

I've come off a couple of times and it hurts! We saw several clowns out on the Welsh roads at the weekend riding sports bikes in tee shirts Fortunately those chumps only do about a hundred miles per year.

Held close to the border between Germany and Czech Republic, it was a bit parky. Landing in France, it was -7°and by the time we got to Saarbrücken ( French/German border ) it was -10° which was the average by the time we arrived at the campsite in Bavaria the following day. Bear in mind these are air temperatures. I've no idea what the actual temp was, taking into account the wind chill travelling at 70mph on the autobahn. This video gives a flavour......... They would be the very last thing to go, and are left to a friend (much younger) when we croak. We bought the blue one as a wedding present from me to Mrs H when new. The bike was new that is. The white one a couple of years later off an older bloke who used to send it a Christmas card every year! There is actually another on the island and it's for sale, but he wants too much for it, it's good but not mint. He bought it from a dealer in the UK, but wants what he paid for it plus his costs of getting it here - to find he didn't like it.
