That makes me feel guilty for cheating.

Well, a little bit. :D

I did the fiddly bits around the points.

I do not blame you, Wolfie. I've stopped now. Not finished though, maybe a third of the way.

A chum called around mid afternoon and we diverted to a spot of motorcycle mechanics.

I did however resume for an hour after he left and did a little bit more.

It's a job that I can't rush but also struggle to do for long periods. At the rate I'm going and knowing of a few likely distractions tomorrow, I anticipate it will be finished by Monday evening.

That will herald a big sigh of relief.

Other modelling stuff needs then to be attended to so that will probably have to do for now.

I can understand that. Even with a little ballast spreader the straight track progress was about three feet per session. Applying the glue without disturbing anything was the hard part, lots of concentration needed.

When I ballasted the points, the most I managed was two at a time.

As you say, it's a job that can't be rushed, but the change it makes to the layout is huge.

Blimey. That's the sort of thing I got up to circa 1975. My platform soles were thicker, though.
