RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted January 22, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) Morning all. It appears The W.F has rallied overnight. The jabs seemed to do their work yesterday evening. T.W.F was a tad jaded following her arrival back at 'the office' and chose a suitably comfy seat on which to doze. Approximately 0300hrs this morning there was a frank exchange of views on the landing which indicated an improvement in the mobility of T.W.F who had been left in situ on the sofa. It appears that there had been something of a 'procedural error' on the part of George, requiring the delivery of some full and frank direction from T.W.F. This was conducted with aplomb in her customary clear and concise fashion, thereby avoiding all doubt on the part of George, who appeared a tad crestfallen in the aftermath. Senior Management intervention prevented any escalation and both parties made their way to the kitchen area where a line was drawn under the incident over a portion of 'treats' each. T.W.F appeared to be moving reasonably well throughout and insisted on being allowed out to conduct an inspection of the works estate. This morning has seen her return to the office and the consumption of a spot of breakfast. She is now in repose on the sofa. George in the meantime, is reflecting on what was acceptable and what was unacceptable. I thank you. I use this approach for any planked wagon and to a certain extent non-planked. It just evolves really. I'm loving those fruit vans, I need more for my current project based on the W&U. Evening Wayne, Thank you but no fowl are being accounted for as of yet , Wayne. The W.F remains uncharacteristically docile this evening and obs are being maintained in what may be a relapse. I have passed on everyone's best wishes, for which T.W.F is grateful. Updates will follow. Rob
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 22, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 22, 2022 Having heard the earlier news of an improvement in the Works Forecat's situation and awaiting further updates, the Deputy Chief Supervisor and the Assistant Deputy Chief Supervisor have returned to their normal duties: 11 1 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted January 23, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 23, 2022 Morning all, The Works Forecat continues to improve though is certainly still not 100%. Suffice to say, she is taking things 'carefully'. Encouragingly, she is currently out on patrol. Rob. 8
RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted January 24, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) Evening all, The W.F is improving and appears almost back to her old self. The administering of the medicinal compound this morning was met with somewhat spirited resistance with an equally spirited vocal accompaniment ( from the W.F not me ) indicating a return to normal mobility. The only modelling as of late has been a further tweaking of the 7 plank wagon displayed a few pages back which has seen some final toning down and blending in. The result is shown below. It is useful having a test wagon on which to experiment. Rob. Edited April 4, 2022 by NHY 581 26 1
durham light infantry
Due to recent work and health issues, the current project has ground to a halt and I can't get enthusiastic about it. However a couple of ideas have been bouncing round in the void of my consciousness, and today we had to go Ikea to get a curtain rail. Rob, you are a bad man for leading me into temptation... 6 6 1

MrWolf
I do like the surface texture you've achieved on all that rusty ironwork, it's very convincing.

Either something with Magnesian limestone using these, plus a dinky black Peckett which is currently on holiday in North Yorkshire... Or Anglicising this, with appropriate locos...

Morning Rob It's pretty much down to the varnish used to seal the powders. II spray from a distance so that the varnish is practically dry as it lands. The powders obviously provide texture as well so this, coupled with the varnish, gives the metallic effect. As a final flourish, a soft brush flicked over burnishes these areas giving the end finish. Here's a few older, previously posted images to further illustrate the madness in my method. Rob. MrWolf
Inspiring set of pictures there Rob, the wagons could easily pass for 7mm scale models and the closeup could be the real thing. I have long experience in rust and the effects of age on paint with my line of work. Compare with this: 8 1

Nope, you aren’t fooling me. Aside from the last two, none of those photos are of models. 3 2
