micklner
Anymore photos would be appreciatted on the whole Loco as well as the chassis. Sprung bogie ? Or have you posted them before ? thanks
coachmann
..... Larrys suggestion (thanks) sounds much easier and I will try out myself in due course . However I do not understand what means by spraying ? I glue mine on ! Sorry I missed this last November. What I meant was I put the tape on the loco before I spraying the loco....I was painting & lining bare-metal locos.

jwealleans
Sprung bogie ? Looks to me like some lateral springing arrangement. I'd be interested to see that too - it might apply equally to my B16 which has a bit of a shimmy at speed.
PGC
A couple of old builds photgraphed for the K's thread Y8 Not much of the original left. New chassis a cut down Mainly trains Terrier etch, Mashima motor and 108.1 High Level Box and much detail added. Still has K's wheels as couldnt fine anything else in 12mm diameter. Doesnt like even Live frog points due to the tiny wheelbase. C1 Still on original chassis and drivers . Gibson Bogie wheels, Non flanged wheel on truck, Mashima Motor and gearbox. Mick Which High Level gearbox did you use, please? I've got a Connoisseur kit to build and want to use a High Level 108:1 box with a Mashima 1015 motor, but have concerns about not fitting in the body, where yours obviously does. Thanks Phil

Yes, two reasons, one to help the loco round curves, think it works a bit, second to stop the bleedin' thing flopping about... Will try to get more photos later. RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted January 28, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 28, 2014 Lifting the body 30thou hasn't really affected buffer hight. Spring steel wire fixed to the bogie mount and threaded through holes in a length of brass tube fixed to the bogie.

PGC
Which Loco ? I presume the Y8 ? Yes - as it's smaller than the Y7, whatever you fitted in will also fit the Y7. Theoretically!!!!!! Phil
micklner
Load Hauler Compact + 108.1 a very tight fit. The Y7 should take something bigger have a look here http://www.highlevelkits.co.uk/ Go to gearboxes and click on planner. RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted January 31, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 31, 2014 I used a Loadhauler compact + 60-1 with a 10/20 (I think) motor in my Y7, still tight with a chip in there as well... See it here.
Thane of Fife
I have used Humpshunter 108:1 with a Mashima 1015,in both my Y7 and Y8. They both move very slowly and will shove 5 coaches/ 10 wagons around, which is plenty for a dock shunter. I think a 1020 would also fit, but neither leave room for a flywheel. Pebbles
Is this the Uniflow engine? only I thought that was numbered 2212.
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted February 5, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2014 2212 was the last Z / C7 and had Uniflow cylinders until 1934, the only other NER loco to be so fitted was an S2 / B15. See here.
Pebbles
Yes I know, but I was confused by the Bogie wheel size.

PGC
Thanks for the info about the gearbox for a Y7 - I've already got a Mashima 1015 and flywheel, and was thinking the Loadhauler compact would fit - I now know it does so will be on the 'phone to Chris Gibbon. Phil PS - Mick, the C7 looks good, and with a white metal body, should haul a good load as well. Any chance of some video when it's working for it's living?
