Two “why” s from the previous post:

Why such a long routing to go back home? Possibly to reverse the wagons? But a shorter route to accomplish that would be Tonbridge-Deal- Minster curve-Ashford-Tonbridge. Route learning? But why would you need the wagons?

Why a class 0 (0Z73) when there are not just locos running?
edit: just answered the second - it ran as 6Z73 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:89449/2024-07-17/detailed

Not sure about the first question. It ran yesterday and is due to run the same time tomorrow. Something similar ran last year too.

The second, as you rightly pointed out, was a typo on my behalf! Now corrected...

Third theory - driver training on handling them with a load?

Fourth theory - RTT has it as "Test" so maybe running in/testing after some attention to the mechanicals?

6Z73 is RTT route refreshing although the inclusion of a load of container flats in between does seem a little odd, especially as at one point it visited Bognor Regis!!

Maybe the flats were there to replicate the length of the RHTT?

Here is 73119 trailing the previous day's trip, 73109 can be seen leading in the distance.

Today's trip was delayed at Billingshurst due to a vehicle reportedly hitting the level crossing gates by the station.

Ex Southern class 73 formerly named after our late friend Graham Stenning at Tonbridge  early June 2024.

I gather that it may already be repainted.

This week has seen some class 73 action along the south coast - apparently crew training/familiarisation for the RHTT season. Duties have been shared by 73107 and 119.

The last couple of days I have not been able to properly catch the service, mainly due to meetings clashing, or unexpected early running. Today it was very early, but I was ready for it.

Here is 73119 still looking very smart in its 'Dutch' livery running through Pulborough with the 0S93 05:54 Horsham - Horsham via Hastings, running 64 minutes early at this stage. Those flower pots are very pleasant, providing a nice splash of colour.
