GBRf had a couple of 73's (the other was 73107 I think) out today on route refreshers including the Wimbledon/Sutton loop.

Popular Post Rugd1022
Stewarts Lane - it seems strange that the yard occupied by E6039 is now a stone terminal and the four track connection on the right up to Pouparts and Longhendge Junctions is now a single line hemmed in by trees and bushes....!
RMweb Premium keefer Posted May 24, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 24, 2022 That was a really smart livery for the 73s, especially when they had the rail grey band along the lower body. 1

RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted July 17, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) 73969's (formerly 73105) regular haunts are about as far removed from the classes original stamping grounds as is possible... RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted July 29, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 29, 2022 Back on more familiar territory, one of the more 'conventional' rebuilds 73965 hurries the fortnightly 1Q76 11:31 Tonbridge - Seaford track measuring train through Pulborough station on a sunny 28th July 2022. 73961 was bring up the rear of the train, which was running nearly 25 minutes early at this point. The rather smart canopies were refurbished fairly recently meaning they no longer leak!
Afroal05
73969 at Aberdeen on 24th August having brought in 1A25 from Edinburgh. A drab, grey morning in the granite city.
Bert Cheese
No photo I'm afraid as the only one I've seen will presumably be copyrighted (or faked!), but apparently 73134 "Woking Homes 1885 - 1985" has been cut up recently, after spending many years up on jacks at Brush Loughborough? It just struck a chord with me as many of the late 1980's BR events around Basingstoke/Salisbury/Winchfield etc were fundraisers for this place under the guidance of Gerald Daniels, who was a true gentleman and probably the only area manager to have the respect of most of the staff in BR days. To me it's the missing Pullman gangway buffing plate and buckeye coupling that looks odd, it took me a while before the penny dropped why it looked so different!

Many, many strange things have happened on the railway over the years, but back in BR days if someone had said Class 73s would have booked passenger work to Inverness, Aberdeen and Fort William in the 2020s you would have dismissed them as stark raving bonkers.

RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted January 17, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 17, 2023 (edited) Another day, another 3Y09., and what a difference in the weather! This time 73109 heads 73213 (distinct with its mini snowploughs - which I think looks good on the 73, contrary to earlier comments!) with the outbound service approaching Pulborough station through a frosty cutting. rogerzilla
I remember a very shiny 73142 being used for the Charles and Di Royal Wedding. The loco is still extant and in GBRf service as 73201.
