HitchinLoco
The lettering was gone round on the bus with a fine brush and pen. Not too bad a job because of the size of it. If doing the other bus, which I thought about. Maybe a transfer produced on white transfer paper using a grey background. The rail alphabet is available to download from the web. I think a link can be found on here somewhere provided by Andy York. Just off subject Merfyn, Did you build the Morris Commercial lorry in the back ground of the vans shot? not seen a model of it before! Thanks, Gordon
LongRail
Just seen that you can purchase a laser cut roof ladder set from scale model scenery think I will get a set of these to try them out https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/shop/lx045-laser-cut-ladders-roof-bars-oo4mm176/
Merfyn Jones
Gordon, a very old whitemetal kit, I think by Midget Models, for the cab and chassis. Body in resin by maybe Canterbury Commercials, again long out of production.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 24, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 24, 2015 I have a fairly recently purchased a made up white metal model of a similar Morris Commercial. No indication of manufacturer and poorly painted, part of a job lot of about 5 models for £7.00.
Merfyn Jones
A lucky find then Phil.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 25, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 25, 2015 A lucky find then Phil. Indeed it was, it came with a white metal Bedford OY both being finished as articulated lorries with identical trailers, the Morris Commercial is rather a long wheelbase for an artic. Also included was an Oxford AEC tipper in Redland livery in excellent condition but no box. A matchbox trailer with the 'whizziwheels' replaced by what looks like Coopercraft wheels, a very neatly executed kit built HA van and a rather poorly assembled white metal Rover P5. I intend to dismante the white metal models if I can and rebuild/repaint them, the Morris Commercial will be as a rigid.
Merfyn Jones
Think the Morris Commercial kit came as a tipper, so short ish. wheelbase it was.

Merfyn Jones
Thanks Andy for that, I'm running out of shelf space for the 1/76 stuff, so the 12" one I will give a miss. Those pictures will be useful as I did think about one using the RTI cab for a Leyland Freighter, altered. Merf.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 13, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 13, 2015 Current status of my Sherpa Vans, have started a mk 3 Transit minibus as well Sherpa Vans.jpg Transit Mini Bus.jpg Is the minibus a conversion of the Oxford model? and if the seated interior is from the Oxford model it must indicate that they are going to produce a minibus version. LongRail
Yes it is a conversion of the Oxford van but the seats come from another model
Merfyn Jones
Looking good Gary. I like the Sherpa kit. A wide one is on the go but it could be a long way off. Look forward to seeing the finished minibus. Merf.
divibandit
I like the Sherpa kit but I really wish there was a J4...there was some talk of one a couple of years ago. On another note, how about this for a Railway Motor? Steve Edited December 16, 2015 by divibandit
Robert Searle
Mike (Stationmaster) posted as I was writing mine. I have obtained the information from 'Kaleidoscope of Shevloke and Drewry' published by Warne. It states that the biggest user was the London Brick Company with approximately 170 units but British Railways had over 70 at one time. As I said above the 'Dual Drive' was not very common so I assume the next ones will be of the single cab type. LongRail
This is a bit of fun, based on the haulage company Longs of Leeds. Given my surname and that I support Luton Town Football Club I decided to create a "Longs of Luton" Railtech Transfers provided the transfers, it is hard to see the detail in the camera shot but with the use of a magnifier it is all there. Need to add a bit more detail such as mirrors and correcting the windscreen wipers
