TomJ
Apologies - I know similar has been asked many times before but after lots of books, googling and searching on here I still can't find an answer. I have obtained a Dapol prairie tank in BR unlined green - is this an authentic livery? I know roughly for these tanks the livery was first plain black, then lined green. I also know that in the 60s towards the end of steam some engines were repainted plain green - no lining. Did this apply to any of the prairies (45xx or 4575)? In any photos it's hard to tell the colours or the lining they are so filthy but some appear to be green and unlined. Or should I man up and line/repaint my engine? Thanks. Karhedron
Don't worry, unlined BR green is prototypical. I dug out some photos way back and I seem to recall that the Dapol model was even correct for the particular numbered examples they had chosen which implies they worked from photographs. I don't have the photos to hand any more but I will have a rummage and see what I can find.
TomJ
Cheers Karhedron that's really useful. Can put the paints away and calm down! Still going to try and line the SR T9 at some point (was inspired by a thread I found where you showed a 14xx you'd lined!)
